Is stealing and murdering a good thing for the game?

Why did ZOS implement this??

Is it fun? Also when players cannot afford the Bounty?

Is it realistic? When every city has a higher crime rate than a columbian drug controlled city?

This system should not have been put in place like this, where the guards are the police.
It should only be implemented as a player vs. player Bounty system.
Do a crime, get spotted doing it and get a Bounty on your head. Not that you have to pay, but a Bounty that
goes to the player who kils you.

It's a TES game. It is part of it since the beginning. In daggerfall i also stole people blind and left a path of bodies behind me. why should this TES game be any different.

    Is it realistic?

No more realistic that people shoot Jezus beams out of their hands.
No more realistic that people respawn after their death
No more realistic that people spawn a horse out of nowhere.
No more realistic that people find caves and treasures "nobody in tamriel ever found" while there live many NPC's

It is a game. It is not supposed to be realistic. Else i would watch National Geographic

I like the people sneaking around, stealing stuff, guard chasing people. It feels more like a TES game then before

And i do not like the CP system

"I am a nightblade. Blending the disciplines of the stealthy agent and subtle wizard, I move unseen and undetected, foil locks and traps, and teleport to safety when threatened, or strike like a viper from ambush. The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

I tried to be helpful. A dude was running away from three other guys. The fight seemed unfair. So I jumped in... helped out and accidentally became a murderer. Oops!

It is lots of fun but as time goes on I think the initial novelty will wear off a bit. When we have other things to do - Wrothgar, Imperial City etc then people will naturally go and do those. Players always all go for the newest stuff and then things settle down a bit.

For RP it is the best thing happening since UO not to forget the ES feeling even more. It puts a whole new dimension in the game. RP's are going to embrace this and have a great time with it.

Naw, just turn harm innocents option off in the gameplay menu.

What really sucks is when your on auto pilot after a long day and just start clicking e only to find yourself pickpocketing someone in front of a guard (or pickpocketing the guard him/herself). Things get real interesting then.

I don't really understand why stealing and murdering is fun myself, but a lot of players seem to like it (I find that disturbing, but that's just me).

No one is forcing you to do it though, so if you don't like stealing and murdering, don't do it. :)

I have a habit of every now and then, just running, hopping and firing off light attacks if Im just waiting for a research timer to finish up. I have killed an innocent once because of this already.

There is, it's in the gameplay menu, you can turn the option to kill innocents off (Should be defaulted to not kill, imo). As far as the stealing goes, just don't do it. You can go out of town and get your provisioning mats and motifs.

Is it good for the game? Probably, from a purely business point of view. Obviously lots of players like it, including certain demographics that are probably a larger part of the target audience for the new payment model.

Is the initial version well implemented? Hardly. It's WAY too easy to go around slaughtering civilians in broad daylight. If you want to get away with murder in the game it should be much harder. As it is implemented currently it's not very interesting IMO.

It has been there since the beginning, except now you may be punished for stealing and you can murder not only other players but also NPCs. The change is what?

It's the whole risk and getting away with it factor.

Wait until Dark Brotherhood comes along. I bet you can be turned... (That's more of a focused, surgical type thing, not the random carnage you see now.)

Something to remember guys, this game has a Mature rating
    That means,

Content is generally suitable for ages 17 and up. May contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language.

I'm sure Stealing from and Murdering npcs should be expected and be of no surprise to anyone that has bought this game or any of the other Elder Scroll titles.

If you don't like it don't do it, there is an option to stop yourself from doing it by accident in your game settings

It's more realistic than before when the same number of people were looting every container in the city with nobody questioning it. It always seemed silly for me to turn in a quest and then run around that persons house opening crates, trunks, and wardrobes looking for phat l00ts.

Players are getting used to it. Wait it out.

Only the kiddies who have zero concept or role play (this is an rpg mmo btw ... you are SUPPOSED to care about the world you are in) are going around killing everything like ants on the ground. Hopefully ZOS makes it even more brutal on these type of players to get it their heads to give a crap about the world they are in.

No gold to pay fines? DON'T BREAK THE DAMN LAW MOMOS!!! You break the law and then complain the penalties are not fun? Do you hear yourself? By this logic every criminal in our jail system in the real world is sitting around complaining that it isn't fun. No ****ing kidding Sherlock.

I fully expect such a major change to the game will be tweaked for some time to come. I applaud the attempt at the very least but where systems like this fail is ALWAYS due to the players who refuse to play along. It's like that player who refuses to take a board game serious and just ruins it for everyone by doing stupid moves every turn. Play along or leave. Pretty simple. If you want to be a criminal stop complaining that there are drawbacks. There are legitimate complaints to be made of course that can hopefully be patch corrected.

I'd call this system a pretty decent first go around though. So far I consider this patch 2 steps forward, one step back. Perfectly acceptable by today's mmo standards which typically slit their own throats as development goes on. ZOS will only fail themselves if their new B2P model becomes corrupt and puts the game into maintenance mode instead of progresses it.

You must be playing it safe in the lower-level cities. Once you hit VR, a lot of civilians can't be one-shotted, and most of them are around witnesses. It's hard enough to get away with pickpocketing, but murder is just a surefire way to rack up a huge bounty.

My goal is to try to steal as much as I can without worrying about lowering my bounty. To a point where it'll inevitably get so high that other players will want to hunt me down.

    I'm role-playing a thief, it's about time I can act as one.

I get a heads up practice vs the guards.

P.S. - I've been killing some livestock recently because I figured I might as well increase my provisioning.

Oh, no! I'm not trying to get caught by any means. I'm just saying that I won't be hiding outside of town suckling my thumb because "oh noes! my bounty is at 200g!"

Also, it's kind of boring if there's no danger to it all. As I get accustomed to the system, the guards are providing enough.. but I know that I'll need spicier opponents as time progresses.
