The patch being so large didn't bother me and once I got in game I was amazed at how the game looked. Putting stealing in game is a big plus and gives the game more Elder Scrolls feeling.

Saying that I hope you have a new launcher in development where we can download the patches in advance so on day it goes live the download is already done. Blizzard does it and I think this is one thing all online games should do. It helps the players so much more because we are so demanding and *** a lot when we have to wait to get into game. It is the one time where you can say we all act like that 3 year old that wants it NOW!

Yeah, the only way downloading patches in advance of the server-side maintenance works is if the launcher is designed to download the patch, but not apply it until it connects with the server and gets a "go-ahead" message from the server, so you're right that they'd need to develop a new launcher (or maybe a patch for the launcher) to make that feasible.

Of course, the down side to that is that if the patch is the size of 1.6 (so about 20 GB) and isn't applied right away, then it's not overwriting the existing files right away, so up until the launcher gets the go-ahead to apply the patch, ESO is going to be taking up way more space on your HD. And if the server-side update gets delayed...

I can't believe in this day and age space is a problem for some people. Now I understand about wanting it on SSD drives is a plus for game, but then that means you have to think ahead on what game/apps you want on that drive.

It's not an issue for me personally - I've got about 60-80 GB of free space on my SSD (where ESO is installed), and several TB of free space on other drives. I'm just pointing out what the downside is.

I kept getting a message (with 100gig free) that the game couldn't finish downloading until I had enough space. So I removed about 40 gig more worth of space and it installed.
