To cast or to melee, that is the question...

So I just purchased the game, and was wondering what might be the best noob friendly character to play? I was thinking direct melee for the initial Arena, but got to thinking that an assassin type with dual Daggerfall might be sweet, but playing a caster when I get to play it toMorrowind would be great, but being a noob might leave me a little Oblivion as to how hard a character type might be, so I will just sit here and stare at the Skyrim waiting for what you think is best and for the patch of 12k MB to download...thank you. 8)

Well basically you can do everything so I would just start what seems interesting and then if you get bored or want to change do it! You can literally level everything. My current character is a NB that uses a 2hander most the time but I also maxed Bow and duel wield for when the situation calls for it as they all have their own strengths.

Yeah I liked you arena to skyrim progression. Don't know many others that actually played Arena and Daggerfall.

IN the other games you really just had your spells and auto attacks but in ESO you get 5 activated abilities depending on your class and weapon you have selected to place out plus an ultimate. I like it because it gives you the ability to choose what abilities you want and because it limits the amount at a time you can have you don't need 48 keybinds like some games.

Well you can actively block but it wil drain your stamina if you block an attack so its something you have to manage. It blocks a % of the damage. If you actually have a shield obvisouly it blocks more. It will stagger an NPC (not a player) if you block a power attack.

I have played the Elder Scrolls since the early ages, I didn't know if this was slightly different. I have watched only the trailers save for a few character creation videos, so the element of surprise on how awesome this game is going to be (and how different it potentially is) is wide open. If it is generally the same as the past games, then I should do just fine with any character...

Awesome! So it is a little unique, I also heard that you can ACTIVELY block? Which I imagine doesn't fully block but instead increases your block ratio percentage? Perhaps I should read the new player guides...but then again I like to hear from players first hand. Haha and thanks, thought those references were clever XD

Okay that makes sense, I just noticed that maintenance is on for today at 1pm my time...pfffttt of course. Tuesdays are the golden times for patches. But I should get some game time in before it goes down. Any renowned PvP guilds?
