1.6 and Nirncrux

Can't remember if I've ever seen anything about this in terms of 1.6 but are there any changes, benefits, pros/cons, etc with using Nirncrux.

Is it still valuable, do people still use it for clothing or Staffs? Or are they all using other traits?

I ask as I've just started researching them - more just cause i can and want to - but not sure if there is any real value in it?

Cheers

I think Zenimax stated that they wanted to boost the Nirnhoned trait but I can't find the source right now. Something like +50% efficiency I recall...

Apart from this, Precise and maybe Weighted seem to be the traits of choice for weapons atm, and for armour it seems to be divines/infused. And Impenetrable for PVP I guess...

uhhh... what? Weighted is the last remaining semblance of weapon speed boosts that ZOS most likely just forgot to remove from the game when they got rid of the skills and passives that granted it, because it was useless. With the armor changes in 1.6, reinforced is better than impen in most cases (at least on major pieces) for medium and heavy, and divines has always been lackluster when you actually did the math on the boosts it provided.

As to the OP, nirncrux is still valuable, but that's mostly due to it's absurd rarity. The price should drop with more people doing crafting writs soon.

Weighted actually gives a substantial DPS increase for Sorcs (or any other class really) that use the standard Crushing Shock DPS rotation.

Besides that, there is a post on the PTS forums looking at the effectiveness of Nirnhoned. You can go read their analysis. Some people say it's good, some say it's a waste.

Anyone on PTS validate that it's going to be easier to obtain Nirnhoned yet?

Nobody will validate this nor disprove. It would take weeks of farming. I did farm few hundred nodes and got one. Now let me calculate drop rate and margin of error...

Nirncrux is useless due to it's absurd rarity, The drop rate really needs to be improved
That which we obtain to cheap we esteem to lightly, it is dearness only that gives everything its value.

I like it's rare. It makes the crux cost an arm and there aren't too many crafters with nine traits on all. I just wish zos makes tenth trait which is even nastier to get, like crux with trolls please.

Nirn IS useless now, but from different reasons. The trait is weak and there is only one gear needing nine traits. No one has ordered them.

thats because of the rarity making the item costs so damn much

nobody could afford a full set of nirn gear

its foolish that it takes so long to find just one nirn

just try a tenth trait with an even harder drop rate.. absolutely nobody would have that gear
This is were my signature would be if I was allowed one.

I completed 15 crafting writs and received one potent nirn crux, Those writs are a horrible waste of end game mats. I spent two days farming upper craglorn nodes and didn't receive one. So that leads me to believe the drop rate should be improved

I dont, I feel it has to be like this a hassle to obtain, not all in the game should be easy, somethings need to be rare and have some kind of value.

Like the gear im grinding right now, missing just one piece and I have grinded it for like 10 hours now, still no luck, but hey when I get it, which I have no doubt I will, it will be so much more gratifying and one thing more, its endgame content.

Remember you only need to research it onces, like I do with the gear grind as well.

I actually already have all nirn pieces researched on a single toon. I just stopped researching everything else untill every nirn piece was researched. Now I only have some easy traits left to research in med armor and weapons.

I wish they would add 10th trait already.

I agree. I like the long farm rates to provide a value as being a "nirnfarmer".

Yesterday, after 4 hours of farming nirncrux, I looted 9 fortified and 3 potent. It's all about how diligent and quick and lucky you are. But it isn't unheard of to just get nothing after hours. That's the appeal of being a nirncrux farmer and what makes the reward of selling it so satisfying.

Do the math, I think you'll find that end game writs ARE profitable in the long run. Sure, it may take 30 writs to get one nirn, but that's worth +10K. between that and the writ gold (+600) and the mats you get from the writ rewards and the items and the other benefits; it works out nicely.

But please, don't do them. The fewer people doing so the higher the value of the nirncrux I find will be.

Nirnhoned Armor Trait: Increases Spell Resist by 24% on that piece only.
Reinforced Armor Trait: Increased Armor by 16% on that piece only which also means a 16% increase in Spell Resist. (tested and confirmed).

Overall Reinforced is the better of the two armor traits.

Nirnhoned Weapon Trait: This is currently bugged and is greatly greatly increasing spell penetration far beyond what it is supposed to. ATM this is by far the best trait for those who can use spell penetration.

    Weapon use Nirnhoned
    Armor dont use Nirnhoned.

Farming Upper crag I get one on avg during my hour of farming for raw mats and I don't wear and special run fastyness farm gear or anything - I eat a food that wears off in an hour and when food is up I stop farming and I more often than not get at least 1 in that time. So about 1 a day.

I was farming a lot of nirncrux in last few weeks. I was farming 1st March for 5 hours and i got nothing. Yesterday i was farming for 3 h and got only 1 Fortified, same Day few hour later i was farming for 1.5h and once again nothing. In past weeks i was obtaining at least 1 crux per hour. Right now for me drop rate is even Lower than before.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno

Can someone from ZOS tell me is drop rate of nirncrux changed somehow before 1.6 came in on Live?
