    What purpose would this server?

I've never seen why people like 'armoury' type systems, I just don't 'get' the need to view my game characters when I'm not playing .. or for that matter go trolling others' characters, though clearly many forum trolls like that sort of thing, it feeds their ad hominum urges.

You mean a preview window for armor, weapons and such?
They mentioned that they are gonna use the same kind or similar preview window that you see in Crown Store for that. No clue when it's gonna be though, but I suspect with the upcoming patches(beyond 1.6) at least.

oh just to see how other people have their armor and skills setup and to consider my own during off times. really just for fun. I understand that its not that necessary but, please don't assume were all trolls or have "ad hominum urges", whatever that's supposed to mean. lol. just wondering if it had been considered.

yeah, a preview window for equipment, and a way to see how someone has done their skills would be nice as well and itd make it easier for people to share what theyre going for with their builds and allow you to consider your own while youre, who knows, sitting at the airport.

    No thank you.
Character Viewing leads to Inspecting in game which leads to abominations like GearScore.

"ad hominem" means attacking the person. It usually refers to a debating tactic whereby someone attempts to win an argument by attacking the person's character instead of using counter points to the argument. In this particular circumstance the poster probably means that it will simply be used to grief other players, or exclude them from PUGs because they do not have a FOTM build or gear.

IMO - it isn't needed, even for what you want. There are plenty of people willing to post about their builds in the forums and on other sites for "theory crafting." Even the idea of an online character viewer (the way you described it) is a bit disconcerting, I would have a hard time adventuring knowing that anyone could be looking up my robe.

What I would like to see is a mobile \ web based client, whereby you could do some basic game functions away from a gaming rig (things like mail, bank, guild chat). Essentially something that would give you access to the same basic functions you have while standing in a bank. Looking at your gear would be a part of that, but it would be something available only to the player, and not shareable to other players.

I would be cool with a site that makes it easy for players, who WANT to, to share their builds, gear, etc. But this should never happen automatically without player consent. I understand that we do NOT own our characters, ZoS does. Doesn't matter. These systems, when mandatory, do lead to elitism and trolling. I wish people were better than they are, but it is what it is. So, no thank you. But a cool voluntary site would actually be something I'd visit.

Hm, I've never played MMOs at that high of a level so never ran into people not allowing me in a group because of my load out, so I wasn't as concerned about that. But I see your points. It's interesting how much that bothers people.
