I don't play with or against anyone and have no interest in how other players progress in the game relative to me. If I had known last April what I know now I would still have played the game then, just as I am still playing the game now and expect to continue to do so in the long term. If I cease to have fun then I shall of course stop playing the game, but the determining factor is whether I am having fun, not whether other people are doing so.

I maintain that the problem is not the champion system, that is a very slow progression. The problem right now is that we have two progressions simultaneously deployed when they were never meant to coexists. Once the Veteran Ranks are eliminated the distance between level 50 players and level 50 players that have champion points will be considerably smaller then it is at the moment, fixing most of the problems mentioned before.

Unfortunately we have no way of knowing when the Veteran System will be finally removed. Zenimax has failed to do so or even explain how they intend to do it, which leads me to believe they have no clue how to do it.

Removing VR levels will help but only a little, just because Chamion System is too strong. 25% more damage, 25% more spell resist, 20% cost reduction etc. its just to much. In long term perspective CP will drive away more people form ESO, than grinding through VR content in my opinion.

@olemanwinter, appreciate you finally sharing how you think the issue as you framed it could be solved. Still think all the drama is pointless, but whatever.

It’s my understanding that you believe that we’ve a bigger issue now because the new CP system is a greater post-level-50 disparity in player competitiveness potential than what exists today combined with a lack of content to progress without having to resort to grinding. Is this what you're saying?

    Based on that, I believe:
    • Suggestions 2) and 3) make sense. I cannot get on-board with 1) because there’s just no way that we can understand enough yet about 1.6 in order to pop the hood on the code at this juncture.
    • No one really knows the reasons behind the licensing model changes and I might GAF if knowing about them actually did something of value for me, but it just doesn’t.
    • Power imbalance will always exist and is what attracts a relevant paying portion of customers even if they tend to be more temporary.
    • Allowing characters < level 50 to get CPs from those >= 50 should be disabled for now. I can come up with reasons why ZOS did this, but we’ve enough massive change going on already and this one seems like it would be hard to reverse when they realized they shouldn't have done it to begin with.
    • A longer grind to the top does exist day one of 1.6 because there has not been any actions taken to offset this. One step at a time people. Rome wasn’t built in a day and the re-write of ESO’s progression and many other foundational systems needed focus before they started piling on-top of it again. Yep, frustrating as hell that this is a massive reset for those that have been here since the beginning (self-included). I suspect ZOS wanted the line to be pretty far out (further than VR14 today) so they’d have time to deploy content along the way. Did you really expect them to simultaneously fix the progression, skill balance and all the content in between for update 6? The game should have been that way before release but that’s behind us now.
    • Just because you or no one else has found a way for a game to be successful with a huge disparity in competitiveness potential between game-starters and game-enders does not mean that one cannot be found. I think our efforts as a community have the power to influence the direction of the train, but not derail it. So we’re certainly headed towards 1.6… So after 1.6 hits let’s all focus on generating good data and then redirecting it as we deem appropriate.
    • There are an extraordinary amount of different ways in which to compare the competitiveness of characters between 70CP->3600 vs. lvl50->VR14, but such an effort is futile at this juncture. Instead, I think that we need to all get on 1.6 and start generating some data for ourselves and ZOS to work with. The answer may be what you came up with exactly. That's fine. Again, just seems like wheel spinning right now. We've only till next week though.
