Horse need a complete remake

First of all, I want to clarify that English is not my primary language, so it is possible that there is some mistakes, but I will be happy to correct it if you notify me about it. I wanted to do it in English anyway because i want a maximum of people to understand it and give their feedback .

There's a think in this game that mortify me every time I see it, and I have to say it: horse in Eso are hideous! And I think that for all horse's lover and for anyone who care about realism, adding new mounts won't fix this big mistake. They need some attention, and i don't talk only about the texture. They don't look like any horse you could see in your whole life! I'm not sure how to say what's wrong because the whole result is misrepresent.
They have massive legs like draft horses, croup of a light horse and the thighs are just weird! The neck and the head look like a child just drawn it! The animation need to be reworked too, especially at the level of the head in order to really bring them to life. Here a little video that show exactly and precisely what horse's movements should look like:

So, before thinking about a adding plenty of new mounts, we should think about doing a correct job about the more used, the horses.
It would be very great to do one model for draft horses:
  • Shire;
  • Clydesdale;
  • Gypsy;
  • Percheron;
  • e.t.c.
and a model of light horses:
  • Akhal teke;
  • Arab;
  • e.t.c.
Also it could be good to add a more balanced one:
  • Frison;
  • Lusitanian;
  • Barb;
  • e.t.c.

I thank you all for reading this post!

    First your English is fine, I could understand your post and what you are saying.

    I know the horses change in appearance as you level them (webbing, armor, bags depending on what you upgrade) but I also thought the horse changed shape slightly. Maybe it's just me, but I thought the horse got a little thinner when upgrading the speed. It could be just the way the webbing makes the horse look skinnier.

    Have you logged onto the PTS to look at the new mounts to see if they are any better aesthetically? There are a few new horse skins available.

    Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

    I'd say this is one of the last and least important changes this game needs. Way, way down on the list.

    Nestor, I don't see a difference between the level of a horse (in the shape) ,but maybe someone else..
    For the PTS, I try all the new color, and i can say that there is not any difference (that we can see) in the shape. But this is real that the new texture are better then before.

    I understand but this is the creature that we see the most! and this is the one who look the most bad. We don't have to do 3 model, but we can make this one realist in a minimal measure.

    I completely agree. The horse model is something that I have always thought could have been done much much better in this game. Especially given how beautiful and real-looking the graphics are, etc.

    The ESO horses are bulky, blurry, and "comic" looking to me. I think they look very un-lifelike and like they don't really fit in with how beautiful and sharp everything else is. And that's when they're standing still...it gets even worse when they're galloping.

    I really can't see them re-doing it, even though I wish at some point they would. I've just accepted it for what it is to me. Disappointing, but gets the job done.

    just to put image on my idea. The eso horse look as a caricature beside these horses.

    I totally agree. Horse anatomy in this game is awful. The hind legs are so misshapen that they have only a passing relationship to real life. The heads, particularly the eyes, are poorly modeled, and the necks are ridiculous.

    In 1.6, the new skins are only so-so. The "sorrel" (chestnut) color is pathetic. I was really hoping for a bright, true chestnut and maybe a blaze face for variety. No such luck. What we got is three versions of gray and a spotted horse.

    I know this is not a high priority, but it would be nice if ZOS could improve the modeling of their horses in ESO.

    I have tried my best to ignore how totally hideous the horses in this game are; especially after galavanting about on a warsteed for the last couple years in LotrO, the horses here are really pretty bland in comparison in just about every respect. I think it is likely that at some point down the road ZoS will be upgrading horses both in terms of looks and functions in different ways, since they are already throwing them onto to Crown Store to see how well they sell. In the meantime, there are indeed bigger fish to fry...

    I understand everything your wrote even if i'm not horse expert i feel that horse are abit thick over some part but as Nestor say horse change there size and muscle as you add speed to them and i think ZoS have Ardennes horse in mind when made the horse to ESO the are really heavy in muscle and skeleton but i can be wrong for if look at Ardennes horse the look little like our horse do in ESO but i can be wrong about this :smile:

    One -could- attribute a lot to "horses in tamriel are of a slightly different evolutionary line then in RL", but that'd be kinda an flimsy excusemaking I'd guess...

    Looking at the comparison, I can understand that it might vex anyone who knows actual horses. For now it is as it is, but if they redesign the orsimer and redguard armors, why not horses in a while? It could happen... once they do all they are busy with now.

    Ya but their hind legs still look horrible. Like they didn't even have a photo of a real horse in front of them while designing. Also, that is definitely not the race anyone should model a light horse after. That's what bugs me the most, that all types of horses are built the same way, they're just reskins. I'd love a greater variety of models, even if they aren't pefectly anatomically correct.

    For me it's the horrible blocky textures you see when zoomed in close. I'm too embarrassed to take a screenshot for my FB page with my character sitting on the horse for fear friends may judge the rest of the game to be as poorly done. The other aspects are pretty poor too, definitely a need to be re-modelled, and as you say we see it all the time so it is important. Thanks for bringing this up.
