Request for another voice chat channel on console

While you are still working on console I thought I would throw in a request. Can we please have a guild wide voice chat option that can be toggled on and off. We have it in DCUO and it works well to connect and help organise people for groups.

Didn't they already say on ESO Live that there was VC for consoles? I believe that is the only form of communication consoles will have.

    Yes they did say that.

And I started this thread to ask for it on the PC

    http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/142114/voice-chat-coming-to-consoles-what-about-the-pc

So, console users, you should get Voice Chat. Unless something changes.

Voice chat is confirmed for group voice chat and say distance voice chat. In my post what I asked for was guild wide voice chat.

I changed the title for those people that only read thread titles and not posts.

Obviously they are going to have to have some system to differentiate who is being talked to/with. I would imagine they are going to slice it up the way the text chat is now, which includes a Guild wide chat channel that you can enable or disable for each guild.

Otherwise it will be whoever can scream the loudest that will be heard in chat.

We read your post so no reason to be snippy. Did they explicitly say there was no guild voice chat or something? I don't think so. They already said there would be /say and /group voice chat so it stands to reason there will also be /guild and probably /raid channels as well as custom channels for PvP or socializing. I mean if you can't communicate with your guild..what is the point of a guild?

So...just to point out a few concerns.
There is a limit of how many ppl that can chat at once. Sooooo when it was said...chat based on ranged with options to turn on/off this is ambiguous.

Destiny has chat based on range too...get close, highlight a player and invite them into a strike group to chat. This isn't ideal but I suspect that is how group chat will work.

Zone chat...I would be VERY impressed if Zenimax figures out a way to host 50-150 ppl in a zone while managing voice chat based on range. As in an open mic zone chat.

Guild chat...great request but again, there is a limit

Raids...25 people in a chat could be chaotic if it's possible but even BF4 breaks up the 32 man team into smaller groups where chat can only occur in the smaller group.

I'm anxious for more specifics per console about voice chat.

Yeah, whatever it is it's going to be limited. That is for sure. It's also going to be inferior to Vent or TS3 and likely to be a source of lag. Glad I'm not playing on a console because the console communication options will certainly be inferior to PC. Too bad the ESO PC version is being developed and dumbed down for the inferior platform.

I didn't mean to be snippy so sorry if it came across as if I was.

ZOS are consistent with their behaviour. They will tell you what they are doing. If they do not mention something when they make an announcement it is because they are not doing it. I'm hoping they can give us some form of guild voice guild chat hence the request.

They have said group chat so this could be 4-24 people depending on what they mean by group and assuming they allow the 6 groups of 4 in console.

I agree NewBlacksmurf so more information would be helpful. If they have the system up and running already then we should be able to have some more details.

I can't speak for PS4 but Xbox One party/in-game chat options far outweighs vent and team speak. Quality and lag aren't xbox one issues with chat unless someone's ISP is slow.

What may have an impact is the number of people in a chat but again no game has really pushed the limit so details, details, specifics are needed from ZOS.

PS4 in game voice chat is clearer and less prone to problems than vent and TS on PC.

Well I'm not sure what you are envisioning but what I'm envisioning for a 5 guild system where people are members of multiple 500 member trading guilds is that it will be a nightmare. The PC version has logically divided chat by guild with the option of vent/TS3 if needed/desired but you aren't cut out of all guild communication if you don't join TS/vent voice chat. With no in-game chat options you are left with voice only so it will either be a huge cluster#$# @ of lag and annoyance or severely limited or both.

Where did you get no in game options? They have said repeatedly there will be a chat box. All you have to do is plug in a key board to use it...

I haven't heard them say that and I didn't get that impression from the last ESO Live. It sounded like voice chat would be the primary or only communication option. Even if there is a chat box..how many people will be trying to chat with a keyboard on the couch with a controller? Sounds terrible in any event.

It may have been the announcement video with Matt, Paul and Pete but they did say that voice chat was in addition to the already existing type chat.
