Yeah, I joined a trade guild then found out they demand me to pay 50k or some such per week to be in their guild.

    1. I've never had that much gold. (I don't have a reason to have that much gold since I craft everything myself and I spent most of my loot on bank space)

    2. The idea of charging people to sell in their guild is just plain silly

    3. The markets are so in flux that its no guarantee that I could even make that much a week let alone more.

Paying to be in a guild for the right to buy goods is just terrible . I knew there was a reason I hated this idea over AH .

I am in 4 successful trading guilds. All of them maintain a full roster of 500 active accounts. Not one of them has ever asked me for a dime. Some of them have raffles, some appreciate donations. Some simply use nothing more than the house cut from the kiosk. But none of them as ever required me to pay any kind of fee.

I agree. If the guild pulls out the mandatory fee to stay in the guild, there are other guilds out there. I would drop this guild and any other guild that might go this route.

I am sure that some high sellers are fine with this, and they can comply if they want. That does not mean everyone should.

If I wanted to plug the guilds than I would do that. But I won't because it's tacky. The point I am making is that there are tons of good trading guilds out there.

This thread is for whoever wants to post on it. I am sorry that you don't want to hear that there are good people and good guilds. I am sorry that you don't want to hear that this system isn't derived from devil spawn.

If I see someone suggesting that every trade guild is some kind of ruthless, greedy evil cooperation, then I am going to express my opinion otherwise. I am in good guilds that are a collection of good people just trying to enjoy the system.

Sorry if that isn't what you want to hear.

I run a high volume trade guild and I would never ask for a mandatory fee. It's a good way to lose your members fast. We do offer loads of optional events every week to help fund our kiosk bids. We do a raffle as well as auctions of many donated items with all gold earned going to the bank.

Higher end trade guilds are moving toward a more structured inactivity policy lately which asks members to do more than just log in so perhaps that's where some of the confusion lies. I try to encourage all members of my guild to use the store to sell even if they are not high volume sellers as it does help the guild, even if it's just a small amount.

Then this threads not about you . Why don't you go ahead and give your 4 great trade guilds a plug for the OP .

Good trading guilds are much more concerned with making sure they keep a full roster of active players. This in itself is a monumental task that requires a ton of active recruiting and a core of officers that help with recruiting and booting inactive players on a daily basis. There is no way that a guild could maintain a full roster of 500 active members that bought or bought/contributed 100k per week.

I am also a member of this guild, and I can assure you that I have never heard anything like this mentioned. This is the kind of rumor that feeds conspiracy theories and is easily started by one disgruntled X member or a deluded member talking trash to another member.

I've been playing since beta and I maintain a whopping balance of 200k atm, so I can assure you that trading guilds aren't nearly the collection of elite greedy players that many people claim them to be.

I also am in this guild, ( along with 3 other very good guilds). The only requirement i have ever seen is to maintain a certain level of listings in the store. It is a trading guild after all. More listings means more sales which helps keep kiosk trader. ( FYI, 63% of my sales are from kiosks). So I don't see that as an unreasonable demand. I personally am happy with "said" guild.

I would leave that guild at once.

One of my trading guilds has recently required that we list something in the store every week. No min/max. I can live with that.

Yeah, the one condition I can say dues are acceptable is, if those are going directly into bidding on a good kiosk. As a seller, those things can make you a lot of money. But, again, that's a couple grand a week max. If you're in a healthy trade guild, your population should be enough to turn that into a reliable bid every week.

But, that said, then the guild would also be seeing enough income from sales to continue bidding. So... eh.

As for the guilds that charged dues back before there were kiosks... ugh.

Someone said trade guilds prevents gold farmers in another thread .

Not from this vantage point .

I think that this thread is pretty much an example of one bad trading guild. It doesn't really say anything about "trading guilds" as a collective.

    Sure it does.

ZOS where is my LOL button...
