True but, the people still playing Skyrim, are on PC. I started out playing Skyrim on console. Then I discovered mods. After that, I logged 600+ more hours playing a game that I had already beat several times.
Fact is that PC players are in general, a more mature demographic. PC players spend a lot more money than console players. We build our rigs. We optimize and upgrade them, and we are the ones, for the most part who have the resources to keep up with a game that wants to live on for years to come.
Five years ago when consoles could not run the best games I would agree with you, but not now.
Also after watching people pay $70.00 for console games then paying $20-$40 a pop for DLC on those console games I would say that the console players have grown into a hungry player base that is ready to belly up to the bar when it comes to quality games.

Going to have to disagree with you on the quality point. I have a PS4. I stood in line for it at its midnight release. I am not at all impressed with the resolution or the FPS. I cannot speak for the Xbone as I have not played one. The PS4 however, seems to be at about the point PCs where at about 5 years ago. Looking at how long it was between the PS3 and the PS4, by the time a new console comes out, they will be way behind. With 4k resolution about to become a real thing in the next couple of years, consoles that just came out are already way behind.

Launching a mmo and having a lot of the population leave within the first year from bugs and bad design issues happens . Deciding to release that game on multiple platforms one year later normally does not . If anyone can explain ZOS logic , I'd be impressed .

consoles have always been behind computers about 3-4 years at release if you are talking about top of the line computers but as far as your average 500-800 best buy consumer computer they are at minimum equal to them. There is always a decent size group rocking the best of the best stuff but all computer games are still based on old tech anyways.
Just look at swtor being based on what xp / vista, wow supporting everything from 2006ish up, etc. 4k may be the next big thing but for games, especially mmo's we are probably minimum for 5-10 years out from fully adopting it. easily within the life cycle of xbox one / ps4. now if you are talking say call of duty, crysis, etc then yeah consoles are behind but console players are used to it.
We literally traded the greatest graphics for comfortable gaming atmosphere, our xbox live / psn network of friends, and the ability to keep agroe to a minimum. And yeah know what.... i dont regret my xbox preference one bit, graphics don't make a game great and a great game is one regardless of 4k or not.

I build my own PCs. I usually only spend about 1k for a new tower. My three year old PC is still better than the nextgens. I have owned every console since the atari 2600. Hell I still had one until about a year ago lol.
I have a PC hooked to my TV in the living room. In our 'office' my wife and I share a big desk, we each have our own PC right here. Its all about your setup, and what you like to do I guess. I can be in game on one screen. On the forums on the other and jamming out to my music pumping through my Bose all at the same time. You just cant do that on a console.
Far as graphics, well Im just a graphics junkie, thats just me. If I can make it better, I will. If I cant make it better, it might just ruin the game for me. I know, I have a problem.
Im not saying you should come over to the dark side...but you should ; )

The game was not just now decided to launch on consoles. It was planned from inception and they never said any different. Had they bothered to actually launch the game cleanly from the get go, the game would have been launched on console last June as it was originally marketed.

i can be jamming out on my xbox and playing game... my tablet does all the forum browsing i need it too. I know you can rock that system as often as you need to but to be honest... the all around vibe especially around my xbox has been positive. while computer has been negative in regards to my home life.
even if im doing essentially the same thing. Not to mention i end up far more connected to my xbox live group then i have ever to a mmo group / guild. My xbox live cadre has survived transfers, moves, leaving the military, changing games, etc.... my guilds typically die within a few years or fall apart when we decide to move games...
computers can and do do must everything better but they do not make up, in my opinion for a better home life and group of connected friends

Yes, Sony will be playing catch up, and I am sure they will introduce a VAIO version first then cave and match the Windows 10 version.

yea. Combined serves CAN exist. See Final Fantasy XIV for an example of that. I don't think PC+Console is the issue. The issue is having Xbox One and PS4 players playing together. I am not sure if that will EVER happen.

I am quite possibly very mistaken but i am fairly sure that actually already happened with ps2, xbox 360 and pc all on the same servers with ffxi... But my memory is shaky as its been ages since i touched ffxi.
Also i agree we are quickly moving to xbox and windows being all the same. In fact it would not surprise me if the next gen of consoles are just a windows 10 comp running a bench marked standard current gen hardware setup with . Windows 10 lite or windows 10 xbox program frame.

I forgot FFXI was on the 360!!! I think this was a VERY special circumstance with FFXI being a launch 360 game and NOT on the PS3. When MS or Sony REALLY wants a title on their console, they'll bend over backwards, and we have seen how much MS wants ESO on their console by the fact that they wouldn't let up on the Xbox Live subscription requirement.
Here is a quote from an article on Kotaku about Defiance NOT having cross-platform playability
"Microsoft won't let Sony players play against them," Rodberg said... I checked with Microsoft to be sure Rodberg wasn't maybe just mis-hearing them. Maybe Microsoft wanted to break the barrier too? Here's a Microsoft spokesperson saying "no," while promoting how awesome the Xbox 360's online service is: "Xbox Live delivers the best entertainment experience unmatched by anyone else, with 35 million actively engaged members. We have a high level of expectation for our game developers to ensure that all Live experiences remain top notch. Because we can't guarantee this level of quality, or control the player experience on other consoles or gaming networks, we currently do not open our network to games that allow this cross-over capability."

Yeah i know they have been pains in the past. Ps3 users could get ffxi on their systems but you had to be creative with the install. But they did all share servers so at least there is hope in the future. Especially going forward where a lot of xbox games are run on private xbox servers (ea does this) that are controlled and moderated by private developers. Youd think as long as a developer is willing to meat xbox standards they wouldnt care
