In soul magic add a spell called Soul Travel.

Once every hour you can use soul travel to teleport you to the nearest wayshrine.

(Couldn't come up with GREAT morph ideas so please add your suggestions)

Morph

Once every hour you can use soul travel to teleport you to the nearest wayshrine. Has a 10% chance of filling a Soul Gem.

Once every hour you can use soul travel to teleport you to the nearest wayshrine. Reapirs your gear for 5% (useful enough to dampen repair cost but not game-breakingly good)

But you can just click on any member from the guild menu and port to them, that sends you to the nearest way-shrine (the nearest to the player you want to port to)

This means you never have to pay for a port ever. Why would you want to waste skill slot to do the same thing?

What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

Definitely a clever idea, but I don't think this is necessary as we already have methods for traveling to any wayshrine.

    i would rather have.....

couldnt resist that one the moment i saw the topic title.

anyways they will not likley do this as the cost to travel to shrines is used as a gold sink.

best we could get is the classic "escape" spell that just warps you to the nearest at a cost.
I play every class in every situation. I love them all.

Nah. We can already travel for a minor gold cost if we really need to, why add some spell to do the same???

IF we were to get a travel spell, it could be along the lines of the old "mark/recall" system some people here may remember from older TES games. Though I really don't see much reason for it now, except in cyrodil (plop down mark, and on respawn port right back into battle - I wouldn't count on the developers wanting to give players that option back)

Most likelyhood for some "soul magic travel spell" I see would be once they come up with player housing, someday in the far future. Then a "port back home" spell is very likely to come with it...

Wayshrines aren't really far enough apart for this to be necessary. But I would love to see this as Mark and Recall (per TheShadowScout), allowing you to travel to wherever you plonked you marker once every hour.

To save taking up a slot on your bar, this would be good as a passive, but I'm not sure how you would set it; perhaps unlocking the passive gives you an "item" to use? Then you would recall to it using the map (like a Wayshrine). The additional levels of the passive would allow you to set extra marks.

If they added mark/recall, it -would- be a slot on your bar. First use places mark, second use ports to mark, consuming it. Mark lasts for a fixed anount of time (say, one hour) before it vanishes. No extra marks, though possibly longer dutation - say, at start, mark lasts only 15 minutes, at "IV" that does up to one hour... then morphs for either lower cost, longer mark duration up to 90 min at "morph-IV"...

The real question is, do they want to give players this option, and do they want to have their system keep track of all the marks players may be putting down...

But I could really see this happening, either as part of soul magic, or spellcrafting, or some new skill line somewhere down the road...

Why would it vanish after a set time? I'd never bother using it if it was just going to disappear. I have no problem with limiting how often you can use it, but I wouldn't want to have to keep resetting it.
