How do you get these unique dungeon armors?

Hello,Returning player here,Just wondering how do you get these dungeon themed unique armor sets? Do bosses drop them? Random? Do you just need to be lucky enough to get them in gold chests?

Bosses drop heads. Shoulders are obtained through completing Gold (purple) key Undaunted Vet Dailies.

You can farm the heads but the shoulders you will have one chance per day per qualifying char to get the shoulders and weight and trait you want.

so are they really rare? Like motifs? I dont like farming but i guess i get one when i get one

Yep you can farm bosses for heads - but for example - Valkyn Skoria's head falls on final boss of Vet COA. The shoulders though are a [snip]shoot.

I would say the shoulders - regardless of weight/trait are still far more rare than motifs.

Undaunted Helmets drop from certain bosses in certain dungeons, the Ebon, Worm Cultist, and Saviors set drop from any boss in any vet dungeon, though they Ebon/Worm/Saviors seem to be a lot more rare than the Undaunted Helms, but since you can get them from all the bosses you have a higher chance.

Undaunted Shoulders = Gold Keys = Gold Chests, very low chance to get them. Trait/Armor Type is random. You can get a heavy armor with sturdy, or light armor with exploration, etc etc.

ESO's brand of RNG is the worst I've ever seen, though I haven't played every MMO out there so there's bound to be one that's even worse. There are Players with well over 100 completes of Gold Key and don't have any of the Shoulders they want, or have them in the worst possible type (say Medium - Sturdy as a Healer). I've personally farmed the Helm of various Dungeons too many times to count and have seen it drop for 1 Player in the group repeatedly while the other 3 never got it once. I wish you good luck OP, you're gonna need it. You might as well start praying to RNGesus right now, and hope you are in his grace.

If they only gave an incrementally better chance at finding one for every failure...

I'm suffering from a slightly different problem, as you know, I'm absolutely drowning in Valkin pieces, and I can't even give them away or let someone else have them at the end of the instance. It would be nice to have a short bop grace period to trade them at least...

I posted a lengthy comment about that very thing and it seemed to get totally ignored by ZoS. I suggested adding a 1% drop rate per kill until said item is looted then it resets to whatever dismal base % it has currently. Many MMO's already track individual Character's kill count of specific enemy types (like Bosses) so it's certainly possible. And yeah that Helm is your running Guild joke just like when we do AA and hear in TS "Oh hey look, another Twice-Fanged Serpent Sword".

Celebrations all round. 1.6.2 doubled the Shoulder drop rate and no longer has Sturdy on it's loot table!!

It's not the worst I've seen, but it's still a system that I wish MMO devs would stop using. RNG is fine when it's just getting the item to drop, but compound RNG (drop chance + weight chance + trait chance) is irritating.

IMO, this is also a good argument for why we should have costume slots that let us use a particular item's appearance without worrying about it also having ideal stats.

Veteran Dungeon armor sets, these are obtained from the three main bosses of the following Veteran Dungeons,

Banished Cells
Darkshade Caverns
Elden Hollow
Fungle Grotto
Spindleclutch
Wayrest Sewers

Armor sets

Before, in early beta and so on there was apparently more VR Dungeon sets available in-game, many looked unique and were useful. But were removed from game for some reason, likely to be added in later as DLC.
