1.6 mount changes

Prior to 1. 6
Speed, Stamina and Capacity were attributes of a specific mount and attributes could be increased by feeding the horse apples, wheat, or oats. Additional mounts could be bought in the stable and leveled up individually.
iUvPsO4.jpg?1

After 1.6
Speed, Stamina and Capacity are riding skills of the player and these player skills can be increased by paying to upgrade the skill in the stable. Additional Collectibles can be bought in the stable and will act according to the riding skill of the player. To buy additional mounts with Crowns, players visit the crown store at any point via the crown store menu.

I'm indifferent to the changes, but they seem to move the game design away from immersive TES mechanic to a more vanity-focused style system.

I really enjoyed the mechanic of feeding my horse every day and I think ZOS is really missing an opportunity to sell bags of Apples, Wheat, and Oats in the Crown Shop to allow players to upgrade their horse away from the stable.

I know the actual mechanic hasn't changed... but it sure "feels" a lot different to me. I sincerely hope this isn't an indication for the overall direction of ESO.

Simple things, such as calling mounts "Collectibles" when dealing with NPCs and the Crown Store mounts only being accessible through the Crown Store (and not through the Stables) can have a combined negative impact on overall atmosphere the of the game.

Little things can add up to make big waves.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
That's right... Horse.

It has to be this way so mounts from the crown store are usable right away. Nobody wants to spend $13 on a guar and then ride at a snail's speed for a month.

The only thing that I don't like about this new system is that now, for example, if I make an alt and want them to have a carrying capacity option and a speed option it will take twice as long, because it looks like you can't level them simultaneously.

I liked how I was able to feed each stat once per day. Not just one stat on one horse once per day. And then I could just swap out whichever one I needed depending on the situation.

I do think it will be cool though to have all stats available on one horse, so I guess perhaps I view it as an okay trade-off...

What I don't understand is how they decided the riders level from pre 1.6 .. For example:

My DK has 1 max lvl light brown speed horse - all points in seed.

Sorc has 3 horses - 1 imperial: mixed stam and speed
    1 imperial: full speed
    1 imperial: full carry capacity

Now on pts if I used my light brown speed horse from the DK it auto defaulted on my sorc to the mixed stam and speed. Why is this? I don't even use that mixed stam/ speed horse anymore. I use only the speed horse on the sorc and the bagged one when crafting or deconing.

Will this be addressed before release of 1.6 or will I just shafted.

Your riding skill should be a combination of all your horses. You might need to fill out a bug report...
Your sorc should be max speed, max carry, and partial stamina (depending how much your horse level was)

Question, for example I have this three mounts

    A: Speed 70%, Stamina 15%, Carrying 0
    B: Speed 25%, Stamina 15%, Carrying 3
    C: Speed 25%, Stamina 10%, Carrying 10

So on 1.6, I will get this?
    Speed 60%, Stamina 15%, Carrying 10

On PTS via 1.6 build yes (can't say for 1.6.1 as I don't have any maxed Horses on EU) but it's a bug and ZoS has stated so. Once 1.6 is Live you would have 70/15/10 for the above example.

Nope if you look on PTS (while having a +60% something) you will find there's 10 more available to talent into. that's because the 42K Horse has +10 stat of this or that.

EDIT: More to point, each Horse can be leveled 49 times (Level 50). Cheap Horses start with +15 as their highest stat. Expensive Horses start with +25 (10 more). That's why if you have a maxed cheap Horse you get 10 more to train come 1.6.

What i want is more customization, You should be able to choose from saddlebags, armor and straps and more if they add more.

Question,Can guars have armor, straps and saddlebags?

I don't think they've planned on any mount customization but being that it would sell well in the Crown Store maybe we'll see something. Best case scenario, we will be able to buy horse "outfits" worst case scenario is we buy different versions of the horse.
Bay Dun Horse with saddle bags
Bay Dun Horse with light armor
Bay Dun Horse with medium armor
Bay Dun Horse with heavy armor
Bay Dun Horse with Lion Guard Armor
Bay Dun Horse with Undaunted Armor
Bay Dun Horse with guild tabbard

    Yay!

    I don't see why not.

The straps and armour might need a slight redesign, due to the Guar body shape, but the saddlebags could work as is.

I don't see what the big deal is with the mount changes. It wasn't like the old system was very impressive or very immersive. It was just an annoyance and a time sink. The new change is way better in my opinion. I also wasn't a big fan how the stats were tied to the mounts like they were. I wanted a different color mount but I was forced into choosing a color I didn't like just for stat purposes.
"And it's important to state that our decision to go with subscriptions is not a referendum on online game revenue models. F2P, B2P, etc. are valid, proven business models - but subscription is the one that fits ESO the best, given our commitment to freedom of gameplay, quality and long-term content delivery. Plus, players will appreciate not having to worry about being "monetized" in the middle of playing the game, which is definitely a problem that is cropping up more and more in online gaming these days. The fact that the word "monetized" exists points to the heart of the issue for us: We don't want the player to worry about which parts of the game to pay for - with our system, they get it all."

It can be as it was and people can still buy horses from crown shop with current system.

They just need to sell horses/mounts with basic stats like Imperial horse and give ability to feed more.

After that, people need to stop whining about shop horses being slow or something. They are special by their looks.

That said, i hate the new system, i hate the crown shop and i hate the bad that most likely happens to community after freeriders come along.

The most annoying thing in the new system is, that i cant have different types of horses anymore.. I only have stupid visuals and i have to refrain from feeding apples since then mounts become too fast to have leisure rides on the countryside..

I am very confused by the new system. Do you get the 10% bonus for buying a speed horse or not? I was on the PTS last night and bought a speed horse at the stables and it did NOT show any bonus under speed. It showed zero for all values with a total of 60 in all categories. I checked that agains the imperial horse and it was the same.
So do I get it if I have the horse prior to transition and do not get it if I buy it after or is that a bug?

The new system treats mounts as skins. You train your character's skills by the stable master, and your skills applies to every mount you use on that character. Mounts are shared by all characters on your account, so you do not have to purchase several of one mount.

So they left three of the mounts at 42.7k? That seems like an odd decision considering they no longer come with any stat bonus. I was expecting them to average the prices out across the board now that the only difference is aesthetic.

I understand about the rider vs mount skills, but it was stated that the 10% bonus would transition. Not sure if that was a valid statement. So my question now is why even have the ability to buy from the stable master in 1.6. Also the tool tips on each horse still refer the light horse as breed for speed, the pinto for carry, and the black for stamina.
So I believe more clarification is needed. If there is no advantage to buying from the stable why pay 42.5K for a skin?

I just pulled this from the PTS Patch notes...

•As a result of this new feature, some underlying systems like mounts have changed. •Previously, each mount was associated with a specific set of statistics, which often led to you needing to choose between your preferred mount appearance or a mechanical benefit. Now, you are free to choose any acquired mount you like without compromising statistics.
•Instead of feeding specific mounts at stables, you will now take riding lessons at stables that will increase your capability with any mount you ride.
•You will also be able to gain maximum speed, stamina and capacity increases via these lessons over time.
•The highest upgrade each player character has achieved with their mounts will be transferred into progress on your riding skills. •If you have three different mounts with 50 points of upgrades in speed, stamina, and capacity respectively, you will have those same benefits with your riding skill.
•Additionally, every different mount on existing accounts will be transferred into the Collection system, which is available on all your characters. If there is a specific type of mount that you haven't yet acquired, they will still be available at the stable.

I give up trying to interpret. Some things remain unclear. <shrug>

There was definitely a staff post a month or so ago that outright said that if you had a speed horse maxed out you would start 1.6 with 60 in your speed stat for your riding skill rather than 50. That doesn't seem to have actually carried forward onto the PTS though. I'm hoping that's a bug that will be corrected before go-live. If not, it could have a serious effect on people who maxed-out a bag space horse... People could lose items in their bags!
