Remove all of the stupid buttons if people are so ridiculous that they feel they absolutely NEED some sort of easy button to click to try to belittle others.

It's a discussion forum. People should discuss things.

You cannot disagree with someone without making some anonymous quip? If you disagree post you disagree.

No, I did not say that I couldn't, actually. I generally "voice" my opinion as well as a click of a button, thank you. However, as this thread proves, something else will be used. So the options then become, A. Give us a disagree button or B. Remove them all. Problem solved

Or C use them as they are supposed to be used.

I think the whole lol and disagree buttons should stay gone. If you do not agree post why you do not agree. Dont just click a button.

I would hazard to guess that more than a few disagrees would gain a report.
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

Ok from now on, let us all agree to use "insightful" replace "lol", which was previously used to replace "disagree".

You guys can still express your negativity. Just put it in a reply... The o only difference is you can't do it anonymously anymore.

If you do make insightful your new lol, I really don't think anyone will mind at all.
Really dude? Is that really the best argument you can come up with, discounting using a button to express disagreement with a post as just expressing "negativity" "anonymously"? By that logic, why not remove all buttons then, so ppl can't express their positivity anonymously? Or is this where we get to the double standard; that somehow negative feedback is taboo and god forbid someone were to feel bad because someone clicked disagree on their post.

First off, what is wrong with expressing a negative opinion on a forum for a rated M game of all things?

What is wrong with anonymous feedback over the internet? Everyone on this forum is supposed to be an adult, why not treat them like adults? If ppl can't take negativity/trolls on the internet, they really have no business coming to online forums. I'm just really tired of all this babying - removing 'disagree' in beta, and now removing 'lol'.

Awww I only LOL'd when I thought it was funny :'(

This is a bit frustrating, particularly if you used the buttons as they were intended. The buttons, on this and other forums, are meant to stop the spamming posts that offer nothing more than "I agree" or "That's funny." Without the buttons, I would expect to see more of that spamming.

Having an LOL button allowed me to share a laugh with someone whose post I found funny, humorous or cute. I always assumed people were laughing with me, not at me - and if not, well, they shouldn't have hidden behind a button.
I think the whole lol and disagree buttons should stay gone. If you do not agree post why you do not agree. Dont just click a button.

Really then, they should just get rid of all the buttons. I don't agree with every post and I'm sure as the sunrise not everyone agrees with mine. Having buttons which mean nothing or mean different things to different people is foolish. This isn't kindergarten. Most of us behave like adults and can be expected to exercise some degree of self-control.

However, what is particularly foolish and misleading is if the Devs use this forum as a means of assessing any kind of feedback, then monitor that feedback to any degree based on upon the silly Insightful/Agree/Awesome buttons. If that's the case, it's really time to kiss the buttons goodbye.

I think it has to do with a fundamental difference with agreeing and disagreeing with something.

If you agree with something (without caveats) then there is pretty much nothing more you can say apart from "I agree". Because what is, effectively, being said is "Everything that you have said here goes for me too". The post doesn't contain much more information than the button press.

If you disagree with something then I believe that it immediately becomes more complex. I can't speak for other people but I tend to disagree with things for a reason. Just clicking on a disagree/lol button does nothing to share or explain that reason and so doesn't tend to further the discussion much. So in this case a post would add information that the button press wouldn't.

Anyway, that is just how I see it. Feel free to disagree ;).

You said it better than I did. This is what I meant by we dont need to get rid of the agree button etc but a lol or disagree is not needed. If Im a dev I want to know why you disagree. Not just you clicked a button but give feedback.

Yup, really dude. We are mostly adults, but it seems many are not mature adults. And your demands for a "I don't like your post but I don't want to say why or let you know who I am" button is evidence of that.

I don't think we need a troll button, and honestly that is what LOL was being used for, as is proved by you and other people in this thread bemoaning its loss, given the reasons most supply. I'm grateful, cuz now i have earned my first insightful badge today, and I believe I have you to thank for that. Cheers.

Personally, I did use it when I found genuine humour in the forum, and that's why I will miss it.

You really have to ask? Really? That's almost ... funny.

If you're an adult, act like one - and sign your name.

Okay, James, let me try this again: There was nothing disagreeable about the LOL button UNTIL Zeni got rid of the disagree button. Then it came to mean something else and that something, as your correctly noted, was negative.

My point was that, if people are going to use stupid buttons to mean something other than they were intended (such as insightful is now the new "I think this is stupid" button), then the buttons are not working, are they? We can keep them, of course, but it won't mean anything because they mean different things to different people. We should either of all the buttons or none of them.

And I think a laugh is a positive thing. :)

I agree with that entire insightful post. However, I feel the need to say it as I have no idea what the freakin buttons mean anymore.

ZoS is already considering adding a "Disagree" button. The LOL button was ambiguous anyway as some used it because they didn't like the comment, others because they thought the comment was hilarious, and others still just because they don't like that poster.

So we'll have a civilized button to press in disagreement with bad posts instead of arguments after all?

What a shame; was looking forward to the flamefests of a b2p forum where people who disagreed had no option but to respond to the poster.
