In terms of killing the same mob over and over again: NO!

In terms of doing dailies for reputation, marks or stuff like that: Yes

Grinding in the sense "doing the same thing over and over again for hours for no other reason than getting XP for leveling" bores me out of my skull, and I see no point in doing boring stuff for fun. Farming a spot for drops or achievements, however, adds an additional element of reward which can make me stand it. Sometimes. For a while.

There's already an active poll about grinding, did we need another?

We should make a poll to see what people think of that!

Depends on how you define it.

You can grind quests over and over and that can be really boring if you've done them more than once.

Doing dailies can be a grind if the activities are not something you want to do.

Sometimes if the mobs drop enough gold and there is a good chance for decent loot or crafting materials, it can be fun to unwind with a mob grinding session.

There should just be an option.

Grinding mobs should be an option for people who don't want to do quests but who would rather talk with a friend on TS while they're doing something.

Repeating Quests, dailies, mob-bashings whatever are an idea from hell.
    It's like factory work.

I don't mind repeatedly trying a hard quest until I finally succeed but once I know how to deal with it I get bored easily.
That's why I'm only rarely back to another MMO I do. All that's left there is grinding. I don't want to know how assembly-line working feels...

For me 'grinding' = 'work' the game. I don't work in a game, I play to have fun. I skipped Lotro long ago, because neary all felt like work to do. So, no, I don't like to 'grind'.

Liking it and feeling compelled to do it are two different things.
V1-V14 compels many people to grind that would rather not be doing it purely because vet levels are so tedious that people just want to get through them.

Hate it. I do dailies once and that's it. New to this game but so far I haven't had any grind. In my opinion if rpg forces you to grind then there is something wrong with leveling curve.

I don't mind brief periods of grinding (questing or mob grinding), like a day or two, but any more and it bores me comatose.

Completely this, so dont worry you arent alone.

Its not like I dont like all the other content. I just like the option to no-brain it sometimes, smash trash to music or just kill things and play about with skills - whilst talking on voice for example. Something which I struggle to do easily over dialogue / quest chains or even concetrating on group content that requires any focus.

    Perhaps I'm just a bad multi-tasker lol.

Whether there are any incentives or not, I dont actually mind. Some reasonable return is ofcourse nice.

Well, OP, that depends on the nature of grinding. If I'm playing Monster Hunter that has tracking and kick*** bossfight mechanics (which is all about grinding), I like it very much. But if I'm just running in circles scooping up static mobs in a rinse/repeat fashion, then I hate it more than I hate how captain crunch cuts my mouth.
The difference being one has a very dynamic fighting scheme and the other is find one button sequence that works then mash that repeatedly. I wish ESO had stuck to their claim about AI being smart but really they found 3 different behaviors that distinguish ranged, tank, and healer archetypes and copy/pasted them through all range levels and it really sucks to see that unchanged from start to finish.

If the fights were more dynamic and more challenging then I might enjoy grinding in ESO but for now I will stick to only getting XP from doing my daily Writ turn-ins, which I will soon get my 250 achieve. Right now soloing Craglorn mobs is a joke, even in 1.6 it's just a matter of moving a couple skills around. It's easy with 0 champion points for overworld mobs just think how cakewalky it will get when you've earned a thousand. Really wish there were some overworld areas that were just impossible without having a well thought out group up against some real aggressive combat AI that kept you on the move. It might be easy to get people moving around some more if they changed all PVE mobs normal attacks to short AOEs so melee dps wouldn't be able to just stand in the middle of fights untouched just because tank says "no, hit me".

I said yes, but it depends on many factors. Most importantly my mood.

Sometimes I feel like grinding resource nodes, sometimes I just want to grind mobs for a couple hours while listening to music. Other times I take my time crafting or finding some good fights in Cyrodil.

I think grinding should always be an option though.

I like there to always be the possibility for measurable improvement. There are two types of improvement in a game, initial improvement, which entails your level and gear and goes hand in hand with the idea of "completing a game" and then there is further improvement which entails a slow and more minute progression of character power, and gear. Grinding is an innate part of that further improvement that automatically provides extended gameplay to cover the aspects of the game where content has ended for those that wish to continue playing.

I don't like grinding persay, I like the the ability to continue past the content while being rewarded for that, and grinding is an essential aspect of that. The only way to replace the grind is to add content for it which would place it back into the initial improvement category that has such a limited life span. We would be back in the same boat trying to add automatic content to extend the game further, such as grinding.

    Do not like grinding itself.

Do like taking a few hours to zone out and enjoy a good playlist while grinding; the task is simple enough to generate exp without being so involved as to hinder my chill-state.

I dislike all repetitive gameplay. Especially "kill this mob three thousand times" grinding.

Daily missions are acceptable, barely... though I usually don't do them on a daily basis, but more on an "when i feel like it" or "when I really, truly need a few expees more". At least they do give XP without the total mindnumbingness of grinding.
Still wish I could do random daily missions (like in "Daggerfall") instead, that way there'd at least be some varietee to it... lacking that, i rarely do more then one cyrodil town as "daily", so I can have some change doing another the next day.

Farming for dwemer scrap drops is pretty close to that grinding annoyance for me as well, but... there isn't really much of any other option to get that stuff but make mindless rounds through some dwemer ruin killing the same mobs all over again... needless to say, I don't have a large stockpile of that for my crafters ;)

I really wish the game had more opptions to earn your expees after all the story questing is done. But there's hope yet it might get more options some DLC coming in the not too distant future...
