PS- They (ZOS) said they wouldn't because it will cause heavy video usage or something along those lines..

Too funny
In LotrO capes are everywhere, and are a huge item for sales both in the AH and on the game store. It seems weird we cannot have them here but I should think the megaserver is to blame. In LotrO they were not a problem but for in PvP zergs (where lag was really bad anyway) or in a raid, where we always toggled them off.

I wouldn't rule out them adding it at some point as rewards as well as a cash shop item. Yes it COULD cause a lot of lag -- some games lag heavily with more clothing options --- however if they can do it right, I am sure they will. LotRO isn't as demanding.. plain and simple.
Clothing options are always great cash shop incentives.

I am aware of that and I wasn't referincing LotrO to imply it was "demanding." It has an extremely old engine and separate servers. I referenced it to mean that cloaks always proved a huge source of revenue, even now. As such, it is worth ZoS finding a way to make it work -- for obvious reasons, especially now that they need to monetize.
I don't believe the "it can't be done" ... more like ZOS can't do it. There's a big difference there.

Their servers can't handle what we already wear, adding capes would melt it down completely, although I do love a good cape and would wear it despite the fire it would cause.

Hypothetically speaking . . . if ZOS built more and better servers would that fix lag?

Some of the guys on ESO were on DAOC. DAOC had capes. I played DAOC.
1 - Capes look dumb.
3 - Capes and bow/shield/two weapon placement will create too many artifacts that the capes won't be flowing in the back when people run (which is what people really want). Instead the bottom will flutter as the top 3/4 of the cape or cloak will be stiff in order to accommodate these weapon types.
The 2nd point is silent.
I would be comfortable with a longer shoulder piece, that would come down to about shoulder length (which is what a cape ACTUALLY should look like), but would wrap around the arms a bit and be open in the front (like a military or police cape). Those things don't flutter and it would make sense.
