[Poll] Should paying subscribers get DLC?

When the new B2P model goes live, people who remain subbed currently get very little incentive to continue subbing. You get some crowns each month, and some XP bonus consumables, nothing too special. However, if you want to support the game, that's all well and good.

Still, there appears to be some confusion in the community regarding access to DLC releases, and I feel it is my duty to clear things up a little. Yes, WHILE you are subbed you do get access to any DLC content. HOWEVER, and this is what most people don't seem to realize, as soon as you stop paying, you lose access to that content unless you buy it for regular price (on top of what you have already paid for however many months of sub)!

That means if you pay sub fees for 6 months ($90 dollars) and there are 2 content DLC's released in that period for say, $30 each, you will get to play them during that 6 months. HOWEVER, if you stop paying, you will lose access to them, in spite of paying that $90, until you either re-sub, or pay the same $60 for those DLC's the non-subscribers paid.

So, here is my question: Should those with a regular paid sub be eventually given the DLC's released during their sub period?

Yes, after enough paid months to cover the cost of the DLC's plus some arbitrary amount.

Yes, in the form of a discount on the DLC by the number of months subscribed.

actually, I would have voted differently but your options left little room, and no was the closest option left to my true answer...

during those 6 months, you're getting access to the dlc as part of your subscription - you're ALSO getting 1500 crown points every month - so, a more accurate representation would be that you're "renting to own" the dlc - assuming you don't splurge a large portion of your "allowance" on cosmetics and whatever other trinkets and swag the crown store offers...

at the current estimated going rate, a 30$ piece of dlc would equate to approximately 2 months of subscribed time. So, if you anticipated yourself not subscribing at some point in the future, you stay subbed for those 2 months, get access to the dlc while you're accumulating a 2nd currency (crown points) with which to buy the dlc. Then, unusub, until the next dlc comes out - subscribe for however long it takes to buy THAT dlc, lather rinse repeat...

now, don't get me wrong - I'm not fond of the separate crown store/sub advantage/buy permanency with stipend kind of setup - I find it unnecessarily complicated and more or less designed to exploit consumers by suckering them into blowing their "allowance" on frippery like seasonal hats and goofy pets, instead of actually getting content for their money - but that's a different gripe

long story short (ish) - I think the system is just fine at the moment, provided serious dlc content (new zones, quests, group activities) are reasonably priced to fit within a couple months of the monthly subscription "stipend" (or whatever you wanna call it)

Yes, but only for the right months enough to cover the the dlc costs would be fair.

You know, that doesn't sound so bad actually. Assuming the crown price of DLC is something you get in 2-3 months of sub, I would more or less agree the system was fair.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see what pricing looks like. ;)

Enough with these types of poll.

    "Hey you want more?"
    "Want more stuff?"

You can not expect to get a reasonable poll if your question is do you want more stuff for your money.

I'll continue paying my Sub so I can continue using the DLC, I've payed it since release and will continue to whilst it's still an option so I get the content, as well as some Crowns and other small bonus's! Lovely! :DB)

If we continue our subs we should get to keep it just like the people who don't pay for the sub
That which we obtain to cheap we esteem to lightly, it is dearness only that gives everything its value.

I chose "no" because I disagree with the other 2 choices presented.

If it were available, my option in the poll would be:
    • Yes, but only the content that was slated to be introduced to the game prior to the B2P announcement and only if it was originally going to be introduced for no additional charge.

    No. Please explain your reasoning.
I choose "no" simply because if the current crown to dollar ratio stays at "100 crowns = 1 dollar" than two months of subscription will allow you to purchase a $30.00 DLC at no additional charge "as long as you don't blow your crowns on wedding dresses and stuff". If you save your subscription crowns and don't use them on other "luxury" items you should be able to use them to purchase all future DLCs.

You already get the crown allotment. If you know that you're going to unsub, then buy it with those. Otherwise, it's the same as subscribing now- you can play the entire game as long as you're subscribing.

And I do so dislike these slanted polls. Why shouldn't the two yes votes explain their reasoning? Why single out the no?

In reality unless the Crown store has special pay-to-win items there is actually no real reason to subscribe.

    "30-day Membership:

1500 crowns at the start of each 30-day membership period
Access to all downloadable content for the duration of membership
Exclusive character progression bonuses for the duration of membership
10% bonus to experience point gain
    10% bonus to crafting research
10% bonus to crafting inspiration gain
    10% bonus to gold acquisition"

The only experience I need is champion points and 10% extra is not worth a subscription unless new desirable DLC is arriving every month and or priced more than $15 /month equivalent . It is pointless to those who have already poured something like $150(up to March 2015 sub) if they have had this game since April last year for content that never really arrived. Unless you believe Trials, Undaunted and crafting writs and the poorly developed Craglorn as worth the $150 you paid. Certainly I do not and would not have bought them as DLC.
NB the Champion system is not new content it is just a levelling revamp, It does not even solve the real basic problems I see with this game

    1) the game finishes at level 50 at the Molag Bal event. Cadwell's Silver and Gold essentially pointless side quests after the story line has finished.

    2) The Areas have been designed for children who need mummy and daddy to hold their hands in case they go into a dungeon above their level and get scared.

3)PVP has been a cluster fest (putting I nicely) since it began and the Emperor system is as stupid as it gets. You can become Emperor by essentially repairing keep walls and/or farming the AP. Nothing sadder than a person running around with Former Emperor above their heads. Most just farmed their way to the position. The rank should be renamed to AP farmer.

    4) Crafting. No challenge there. Spend the time and you are a master crafter. A 5 year old could be a master crafter in no time.

    5) The Thieving 'system' being implemented in 1,6. This too seems aimed at 5 year olds. As dumbed down as it gets.

And that gets to the basic problem this game . It has been simplified so that everyone gets access to everything. the only real challenges are Grinds . These are nicely called Trials and Writs. They are grinds none-the less. Getting boring messages that someone in my guild has done 'it' in 14 minutes and another group in 567 minutes tell us something about these events.

Enough of the rants. None want to hear, especially those at ZoS.

Of course you may ask why am I still here. Partly it is because of hope and partly because some of the game is still fun. Unfortunately the hope is fading fast.

In summary keep your money and go and eat a decent meal with your 'friends'.
