Block casting vs casting behind damage shields.

I am not playing PTS, but would like to know how much Stamina per second blocking really cost.
This to make up my mind in what direction to go based on some math... and not on the trendy "damage shields is the way to go"
Blocking costs stamina. Keeping damage shields up cost Magicka(Stamina).
So can somebody help with actual figures from PTS?
And perhaps also some general considerations between the two approaches.
