Is this finally the "Sorc-Green Dragon Blood Skill" in 1.6

I notice the change to Dark Deal in 1.6 now gives the Sorc their own heal.

I know it's not instant cast and you can not move, but a few experiments on PTS might see whether this becomes a sort of Sorc-Green Dragon Blood type skill to have.

You can tap it for a second and then break the spell if it restores enough health so you can continue the fight.

Now if we can only get ZOS to make this an instant cast for a fixed swap of Magicka for Health and Stam then Sorcs will finally have that heal they need and won't have to rely on Resto staff any more.

Worth looking into.

Stamina sorcs are garbage in 1.6 and your better off with any other class for a stamina build. I could explain all the reasons as to why but they have already been posted numerous times in the pts forum and are there if you look. A change to dark deal wouldn't help much, if any.

What mobs let you stand there for 4 seconds while you heal? The kind you don't need a heal for...

The only way Dark Deal/Conversion would be viable is if the ENTIRE action took place in 1 second. Heals that don't heal faster than the damage is coming are useless.

Dark deal/conversion always restored health along with what used to be only magicka, but now is either magicka or stamina. In the 1.5 version, Dark Conversion was stationary but cheaper to cast, and Dark Deal allowed you to move a little bit. I know this because I have been a sorceror since beta and have used this skill routinely.

I love the change to the skill, even though I am a magicka-build. I like having the magicka-to-stamina option not because I'd use it, but because it adds versatility to the class.

The skill in no way competes with GDB because the size of the heal as an instant cast (or as a channel-and-cancel-after-one-tick) is nowhere near what GDB is.

Can it be used to get a quick shot of health during a fight? Sure, but cancelling that particular skill early is a little buggy. Furthermore, considering the amount that the tick heals, there are much better options for that second or so during the fight (conjured ward, repositioning with bolt escape, etc. come to mind).

Appreciate the thoughts and useful feedback (apart from Erock25 who just seems to be here to annoy people).

It is not meant to be used for stamina-build Sorcs, it allows the heal from the high Magicka that I expect most Sorcs to have.

You are right that a channel of magicka to health is no where near as good as the GDB, but as I mentioned, if ZOS would make this into an instant cast exchange then it gets somewhere close.

In theory it is meant for stamina builds as it was one of the three converted morphs. The skills is in no way comparable to GDB and worthless in pvp unless you like playing ranged/hide behind terrain type of combat.

Sorcs have always had Crit heals & I read they just un-nerfed their nerf of Critical Surge. NBs on the other hand have cleansable dot hots. If you want to talk about a class married to the resto staff, I'd start there.

I do feel that you are all right in your feedback on this... I was just throwing up possible ideas as to how a Sorc could get some Heal and Stam back in exchange for Magicka to help - as we all know that without the Stam for blocking you will soon be a dead duck (especially in PvP).

Last I heard with Crit/Power Surge was that the heal can only happen every 0.25 seconds...hopefully this will get changed back to what it used to do.

Nope.

In Live, Crit Surge is fantastic in many situations, especially AoE. I've tested it extensively in PTS, as recently as this morning, on both stamina and magicka builds. It's awful. It's not quite as awful as it was in 1.6.0, but it still provides a small fraction of the healing on live.

The main culprit is the global cooldown. Even reducing that cooldown to .25 seconds does not help, as your damage all tends to "tic" at the same time in AoE situations. That also means that, if you have DoT's running (and sorcs can hardly avoid them), the tic is as likely to be eaten by a tiny little burn proc as it is a big strike.

When you add the general reduction in crit rate, the result is that crit surge no longer keeps anyone alive. That's why sorcs are hanging on to the new, beefy shields so tight

This isn't the case anymore in 1.6 due to the damage being so out of whack and the increased cost of blocking. Most people can't hardly afford to block for any amount of time now, so as a sorc you will have to rely on shields and range for survival. You really should go try out the pts or you are going to be in for quite a shock when it goes live.

Overall, I like this change, as blocking is now a tactical choice rather than a constant requirement. But you're right, it's going to be a shock to people when they realize just how dependent they were on constant blocking for mitigation, CC avoidance, etc.

It's not an easy adjustment. But I think it'll be good for the game.

What? You've been asleep for the past 10 months?

Dark exchange and its morphs has been there since day one... and the morph used to be a lot better when you got a huge mitigation boost and CC immunity while you were channeling it which actually allowed you to use it while things were beating on you.

That part went away in exchange for being able to move while channeling it in the first round of Sorc nerfs together with the magicka increase penalty for using Bolt Escape and its morphs repeatedly.

The only actual viable self-heal Sorcs had since then was Critical Surge and 1.6 has nerfed it into total uselessness.

The end result s that sorcerers now need heals from skills outside their class skills more than ever.
