Infuriating delves in Cyrodill

Since I seem to be supremely poor at PvP, I thought I'd wander around Cyrodill first and try for the Cave Delver achievement.

The delves in Cryodill seem to be set up rather differently that in the rest of Tamriel in that they seem to require you to dispatch 3 bosses per delve. The problem I'm having is that in some delves only 1 boss seems be resident, once that's dispatched another will respawn 10 or so minutes later. I managed to clear one delve after a considerable amount of time (and several gaming sessions) but I'm currently having massive problems in another.

The delve itself (which is miles away from my respawn points) is just a small 2 cave system with 3 bosses to kill, only one of which appears at once. When the boss is killed you have to wait around 10 minutes for a re-spawn, which seems to be random. Currently I've spent what I would estimate to be about 4-5 hours killing the same two bosses over and over again, waiting for the 3rd to spawn; it never has.

Since everything else in the system respawns in seconds I've done a lot of fighting and brought my armour down close to zero twice before having to give up and go back for repairs; I've still haven't completed the particular delve.

Advice: go in with a group, it's much more fun to clear the bosses this way and you spend less time on the mobs.

My problem with the cyrodil dwelves is more that some of the bosses in there are a bit more then my characters can handle alone... so I'd definitely recommend bringing friends, though at least one dwelve I recall as have only a single one-pip lich boss I could easily take down solo, clearing that ruin...

If you kill bosses and don't clear the dwelve for the archievement, chances are, somehwere else in the dungeon there hides the one boss you -really- have to take down!

If you go to the achievments menu, and click the Dungeon, there should be a list of the bosses that need to be killed.

Yes, the achievement for this particular delve does list 3 bosses; unfortunately after several hours only two have turned up (and then only 1 at a time).

I was in a similar situation, I left the Dungeon, asked a guild mate to accompany me, we re-entered, and the boss spawned fairly quickly...

OP, yeah the spawn rate still sucks on some of those. Not a whole lot you can do about it until they change some things.

@TheShadowScout‌ , grouping always a good call in Cyrodiil - never know what you're going to run into.

The only thing that's a bigger pain than waiting endlessly for the boss to arrive is being there at the same time the other alliances do (and they'll usually have friends).

That being said, at the earlier levels, I found Cyrodiil to be a good spot to refine skills and try techniques.

So long as you die from PvE, you can respawn onsite. There are a couple t are bosses that are particularly nasty (Neried in DC land is one of them).

When you do find the combo that works for you, though, it is a glorious day indeed!
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

I have had the same problem many times: waiting forever in vain for a particular boss to spawn in a delve, while killing one or two other bosses in the delve dozens of times over. I can only conclude that the respawn rate for some bosses in some Cyrodiil delves is basically broken.

It's worse if you die in the delves due to other players, or accidentally pulling to many mobs. Someone at ZOS decided to remove the wayshrine inside Cyrodiil delves....

There's one delve that I try to visit every time I'm in Cyrodiil, it isn't always easy because it's deep into the enemy territory. I've been trying for a long time, but I still haven't killed one of the bosses. I'm not going to sit there for hours, I have better things to do with my time, but you'd think it'd spawn at least once for all these times I've gone in and out. Nope.

I cleared all dungeons in Cyrodiil on a single rainy Saturday.

But I agree, some of the bosses take far to long to respawn.

Spawning only one random boss at a time in Cyrodiil delves is an utterly stupid idea. I am half expecting the crown store to sell a potion that magically makes all bosses in a delve spawn for you. The problem with "convenience items" is that they require parts of the game to be deliberately inconvenient.
    1. Make the game about waiting.
    2. Give players an option to pay to eliminate the waiting.
    3. Profit!

All the bosses are on a random timer. My guildie spent more than 8 hours trying to finish one delve.

Yup, haven't finished any delves because of the waiting game implemented in Cyrodiil. I can only accept standing in an area for X hours if it results in some sort of reward, etc. Killing the same one boss over and over due to the delve not spawning the other two is not enjoyable.

Ah yes the Cyrodill caves. Most fun caves imho. Sometimes a monster appears with a better AI then other monsters. Beware of them

Also, don't forget the Skyshards. One is (i think) unregistered in achievement. The mountain Skyshard. Won't spoil where it is, but people probably use an addon for it anyway. I found it by coincidence.

"I am a nightblade. Blending the disciplines of the stealthy agent and subtle wizard, I move unseen and undetected, foil locks and traps, and teleport to safety when threatened, or strike like a viper from ambush. The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

Nope, there's an achievment for that one ("Cyrodiil Mountain Skyshard", IIRC)

You just had to be that guy, didn't you? You just ruined a perfectly good complaint thread by saying something positive. Curse you!

Seriously, the reason why I am upset about the bad timers is that these delves are well designed in all other respects: large, varied, fun, challenging but not impossible. However, having to do the same delve several times to get the achievement takes away the fun. Completely.

Get the add-on PublicDungeonChampions. There is an excellent thread on the forum related to this achievement, with tips and maps. Search by cave or achievement name, you should trip across it. I used this to get it done. One tip that may or may not have improved spawning was to loot everything from boss corpse. Wound up having to destroy a lot, but I did get the achievement. UESP wiki has good info and maps on caves. The only delve that gave me much trouble was the one with 5 bosses, one of which was far from the other four, so it was hard to see if it spawned without a lot of running around. PublicDungeonChampions should help there-I got my achievement before I learned of this though.
