This is the Addon I cannot do without

Wow - I started up PTS without any addons installed, and I have to tell you, I felt like I was in the stone age. Granted, not all the addons I use are absolutely necessary, but after a few moments without addons there were at least 5 I *had* to install, because without them the game is unbearable.

For example, without Advanced Filters the inventory is just a chaotic nightmare, without AwesomeGuildStore the guild stores are frightful deserts, and without PublicDungeonChampions public dungeons are literally no fun and very frustrating.

I am not talking about Skyshards here or the minimaps. I can do without those if push comes to shove. I am looking for absolute must haves, for the ones that make the game a barren place if they were missing.

I am listing 10 addons here, it's the max. Please vote for the one you find most important.

EDIT: This poll is about singling out the most crucial addons. If you don't use addons, please move along, no need to vote. I suppose ZOS has data on the percentage of addon users. Thx for stopping by, though! :-)

There are a number of addons on that list that I would have a difficult time playing the game without. I doubt that I would even continue playing the game if addons suddenly went away. I marked the one that I use the most.

    This is a tough one.

I think the one that has saved me the most wasted time would have to be Research Assistant. Instantly seeing what you need to keep for research and what you can sell/break down without having to consult some pen and paper chart or visit the forge/clothier/woodworking table while cross referencing your bank inventory was just HUGE.

Runner up would be Wykkyds Toolbar. Lots of great info like Horse Timers, Research Timers, Soul Gems, etc... at a glance, and kept small and unobtrusive in an elegant bar at the top of the screen.

You guys missed the point. Would you go on a poll asking for an opinion on the best dungeon and say "You don't need dungeons, they aren't required or necessary"?

I chose FTC, but I want to make some things clear...
    1. I turn off scrolling text and edited attribute bars. Granted some people enjoy numbers flying across their screen, but I'd rather just do a Sudoku or something.
    2. I primarily downloaded it for % bars and buff tracking. It's nice to know that the keep wall is at 57% instead of "about to flag" and when I should start hitting enemies when they're under 20% health.

EDIT: I actually encourage everyone to download it and turn off the features they don't like such as scrolling text, but keep on some of the other features.
They are minimally invasive, which is what The Elder Scrolls games are all about, but help you dramatically to make smart choices when it combat.

But the poll is titled "This is the Addon I cannot do without". It's not asking which is the best addon, it's asking which one they cannot do without. If you don't find the need to use any addons, then "none" is a completely valid answer to that question.

Actually, I probably should have given that answer myself, as there really isn't any addon that I couldn't do without. There are a few that I like a lot, and that I miss a lot when they aren't there (primarily Advanced Filters, and the mini-map one that I use - I forget what it's called), but I could do without them. They make my life easier, but I don't need them.

AdvancedFilters has saved me days of my life not having to scroll through my inventory looking for a certain item. It is the one and only addon I suggest to people who are completely against addons. If you are not using it, you are literally wasting hours of your life.

Huh, maybe it's worth downloading and playing around with then. Every time I see a screenshot or a video of someone using it I cringe because of how much I hate things like the scrolling text and numbers flying around... It would completely destroy any enjoyment I get from the game. I didn't realize that you can turn off that kind of stuff though, so maybe it will be useful for me without being annoying.

True, the title gives a different question than the preamble to the poll, I guess I focused on the preamble.

    I <3 FTC!

Roomba however is a perfect example of how addons makes devs lazy, a glitch at launch and somehow all this time later they can't fix it so that the GB auto-stacks?

Don't get me wrong, I love and use Roomba, but its a crying shame it's been almost a year and players are still forced to use an addon or do it manually...because of a bug :\
Edited by Psychobunni on February 5, 2015 12:24AM
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

Same here. I love FTC and one of the first things I do is disable scrolling dmg numbers and unit frames. It's great for the DPS meter, buff/debuff tracker, and Ult tracker. Plus it puts numerical values in the health and attribute bars. And as you mentioned, all of this stuff is done very nicely and is minimally intrusive on the UI

The only one from your list I actually use, and it's not that important except when levelling an alt.
My 'can't live without' would be Combat cloud and Azurah.
I can't go back to not knowing how much HP a target has and how much damage I am doing.
Azurah for repositioning/resizing the UI elements and displaying stats, I would use FTC for this but I don't really like the format.

Too bad polls only allow one option, because I use and love several add-ons and my gaming experience (already poor for other reasons) would be even worse.

So many... I feel totally blind without my addons. Sadly many of my favorites are discontinued and it makes the game absurdly difficult for me. To no great surprise, most of my favorites are ui tweaks.

Simple things like the rainbow reticle that without has me running head on into groups of enemies thinking it's a town... that's my number 1, for sure.

Others that make me feel blind without:
    SimpleClock (shows the time!)
istacker (Or something like that. It took items from your bank that were on your mule. Have yet to find the replacement and it shaved off hours of inventory juggling :( )
    Mount Feed Timer
    Lootdrop

    Votan's Fisherman (Shows water type)

Even though I rely on some of the addons you listed, I voted "Your Pick" because you dismissed mini map right off the top. Just because you can live with out it, doesn't mean everyone can or wants to. For me, mini map is the one addon I can't live without. I would not like being without Advanced Filters, but if I could have only one addon, it would be a quality mini map.
