Just a tiny thought about the M rating

Now correct me if I am wrong but, there is no blood when we slash right?

So I was simply wondering, if that was placed in the game, the hits would definitely seem more meaty. Just have an option to enable and disable them though. I woudn't want that on during a huge cyrodil battle.

Do you think the addition of blood is dumb?

There was always blood but not much. It wasn't like Mortal Kombat levels of blood. But even at the beginning if you where in 1st person and where slashing there would be a little bit.

Do I have to have ultra on? I just randomly played skyrim recently and I was like WTH when I saw the blood all over the sword and the person. I think some even splashed on the screen. I had forgotten that they had that much blood in skyrim.

I don't notice it at all in ESO. Let me go take a closer look lol.

Do you have an enhanced blood mod on?

Do not recall blood splashing on my screen in Skyrim until installing the mod.

In ESO the blood effects are quite minor, the easiest time to see them is when a character or monster has an active bleed effect on him or her.

I don't know if you had to have Ultra on but I did. And it was very minute amounts. Like you would hit them and it was a quick 2d splash. you have to look really close or you will miss it.

I finally noticed it when I switched to first person and was up close to the person with a sword and shield. I actually started using staffs more as I can tell that it hits them.

Yes, it adds nothing to the game really, and people get upset about it (or worse actually seem to enjoy it), lets leave it to the imagination.

It adds a lot to the game. It makes it feel a lot more brutal. Currently it feels like every mele weapon is a baseball bat, you see no cuts and no blood.

Tamriel is a brutal, unforgiving place, let's embrace that AND the rating and add some blood and gore.

Indeed, and while we are at it, some cool fatality moves (kill animations) vs mobs to keep the rather bland combat interesting. Age of Conan did this really well:

I was thinking about something more like these. There WAS blood splatter on the screen on skyrim not modded.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZcgpjZzWiA

Of course they should always put the choice to turn it on or off because some peoples pc may not be able to handle it.There could be a simpler animations would tell other players that they are engaging in such an animation but does not have to be that specific animation. It could be a generic one that is shown during mega battles. Of course i would like to be able to hit the person out of the move as well.

I think bob deaths should have a fatality animation, like decapitation or dismemberment. Am I supposed to feel immersed when my great sword hacks through a plague husk and their body is still in one piece?

I also feel as our armor deteriorates it should show signs of battle and blood spatter or loose flesh from mobs hanging off the gauntlets and pauldrons. This game is not for children so why is the imagery presented like it is for children?

Yes the skyrim kill animations would do, the AoC ones can be a bit over the top at times but some of them are fantastic (the dual blade throw kill animation is amazing, 2:12 in the movie)

I never noted any blood in the game until rolling up my first DK character; the .... oh what is it that morphs to 'obsidian shard' anyway it gets a splash of blood - which struck me as weird given that at the time I was on bleakrock fighting skeletons.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

In my opinion, although they were aiming for a T rating, they should flaunt their M rating and take full advantage of it. Additional blood? Sure. Make it toggleable so the more squeamish players can be happy. I would like to see more mature stuff in the Mature game.

They could add a ton of blood and not get a M rating... the M rating has to do with consequence and behavior. They did not add children when the game first came out because it would have got an M rating or Pegi 18 in europe... if you can kill a child you instantly go to the high ratings in Europe.

Sex prostitution and PvP have a higher chance to get a higher rating in the US.

What put them over from T to M to Pegi 16/18 was the justice system and consequence.

Its easy to get around the "gore" all you have to go is change the color of the blood to green for example and make it a "monster" you kill...

Personally I would like the option to have the game a bit more bloody, with the occasional "fatality" move... toggleable in settings, so those who don't want it can disable it.
Have the game earn that "mature" rating.

Of course, since AoC was mentioned... I am still envious of some other things they had there, though in general I like ESO better...

It felt so satisfying when those animations triggered though, over the top or not. They also weren't triggered on every kill. It was a rather small chance and only had a chance of triggering when you dealt the deathblow with a combo.

I wouldn't mind blood either, feels very cartoony at the moment. As for finishing moves, that would be hard to implement as this is an online game first of all, and it would leave your character open for attacks both in pve and pvp. Making them toggleable would also be very problematic. A solution to this would be to add more death animations. As of now we have a few that can trigger upon elemental damage etc - but if there were added more based on melee weapons, such as limb losses and directional death falls - the game would definitely feel more responsive.

Oh, yes, it would not have to be "finishers", mere special death animations would be fine. Just like the occasional "burst in flames and burn to ashes" or "freeze solid and break to pieces" or "gasp, cough and dissolve into greenish goo" we sometimes get to see on various elemental-ish attacks. I would love to have the same for each weapon type.

If the mature came for the justice system since the game now gets theft and murder, I see no reason not to give it more mature for the rating. It can always be made toggleable for those who don't like that much grittyness in their gaming.

Mind you... I am of course hoping for even more mature stuff. Erotic stuff to burglar would be nice and lolworthy to discover in the game. So would having a bit more in other areas... make it feel a bit less "disney" and a bit more "game of thrones" sometime... Oh, well, maybe sometime in the future. Always the chance for DCL coming someday.

There are MANY of us that would like ESO to be a bit more gory and bit more gritty.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.
