New Player firsts impressions

Hi, i'm a new player and i wanted to share with you my firsts impressions of the game (I'm actually lvl 8). I'm a very experienced player with any kind of games (PC online games), so i know what i'm saying. Note: These are first impressions, so don't tell me that the game will change at lvl 10, i'm just saying to you what a new player thinks when he starts, cause you know, a lot of ppl quit a mmo just at lvl 5 if he don't like it.

Pros:
- Nice graphics.
- Sounds, voice actors, etc are amazing.
- Lot of details, maps and interiors of houses are nice.
- Nice skills system (even if i think could be confusing for a new player)
- Nice animations, even if i think that you should improve something (es. i can't sheath weapons when jumping, and i can't move while i'm jumping(ye it's not realistic but after all is a game, and i personally hate animations that force movements, like in coreans games)
- The game doesn't seem grindy at least for now.
- No bugs at least for now.

The game seems really well done qualitatively speaking.

Cons:
- I had a problem downloading the game with the launcher, but is not a cons of the game, maybe it happened only to me (slow download speed, web app request failed errors, etc...)
- There are 4 classes, pretty much all can tank, all can heal, all can dps, all can go meelee, all can go ranged...so where's the point of having classes? they're too similar. Classes are borns to create different playstyles, in eso the only difference seems to be the colors of skills (light, fire, thunder, shadow)
- Some skill's effects could be better.
- Every quests is a story and i like it cause this doesn't make the game grindy, but sometimes at least for me is boring, i feel like i'm reading a book rather than playing a videogame (And for ppl taht don't know english is a wall). For now i read all the quests, but sometimes it takes a lot of time, speaking to NPC A, then going to NPC B, NPC C, etc..., expecially when usually a quest doesn't even require to kill a single creature. I could quit reading them but would still be boring, cause there's always the same mechanics (Speak to A, speak to B, activate item C, kill enemy D) I guess i'll see more when i lvl up.
- Easy. 15 minutes NPC talking to me for a quest, and then when i'm about killing a mob, all i need is to use 2 skills. How can i learn to use my char if i don't have chances to use my skills? Mobs just dies istantly, especially if you hit them from range, i never needed to use my heal, or ultimate....

My advices:

-Find a way to differentiate classes' playstyles or just give a player the possibility to switch "class" on the same pg, cause they're pointless, confusing and just annoying cause you have to lvl up others chars to try out others classes playing in the same way.
-Add a difficulty option. Like this: when a new player create a character he choose the difficulty (3, 5 options). Who reach lvl 50 gets an achievement related to the specific difficulty and maybe a title or something more interesting. He cannot increase the difficulty but he can lower it before lvl 50, so only who play all levels up to 50 in a certain difficulty gets the related achievement. All you need to do this, is a buff on the player that increase his stats and damage in easy mode, and decrease them in hard mode. This will make a lot of ppl happy, is just an option (so who wants can still play the game as it is in normal mode), and it should be easy to implement.
- Sometimes i feel there's a lack of mob when doing quests. Example: At the beginning in Daggerfall there's a quest (related to Roy's death) in the tavern, where a woman orc ask me to go upstair to take care of a guy, and he is guarded by a single mob that dies in 2 skills. And this is just an example, 80% of quests are like this one.

Hope this helps, i'll continue to play the game hoping i'll enjoy more.

Hi, welcome to ESO! Just a couple comments:

    1) The 4 classes actual SKILL trees (not the weapon skill trees) are in fact nothing alike. So there is indeed a reason for having 4 options.

    2) Sadly, the game has been dumbed down from release quite a lot. Too many people cried that it was too difficult. So now, what new PVE'ers are left with is fun, and pretty, but fairly easy content. This will not change until you are of level (45 to start Undaunted Trials) to start doing dungeon runs, whereupon you will have difficulty options. Until then, (starting at around level 14 is best) you have the option of doing normal Undaunted (group dungeons - there is one in each zone) for a challenge. Or, when you hit level 10, you can head over to Cyrodil and quest in the villages there.. this will be more difficult for 2 reasons: 1 because tho you are scales to level 50, you will still be under par for the mobs, and 2 because there are pvp'ers there who will ambush and kill you while you are trying to quest ;)

Anyway, have fun! And I hope you find your niche!

You won't confuse a sorcerer for a dragonknight in pvp. The classes are nothing alike, even if it may seem so at first glance. It just takes delving deeper into the game mechanics, and understanding of the various classes' special abilities to understand the difference.

As for the game being too easy - yea, especially if you are an experienced player. TESO is very casual i the first 50 levels(your home zones). But if you want to challenge yourself, nothing is stopping you from just skipping a zone and trying to quest in the next where the mobs outlevel you (i did that too).

Yes, it's miles better than it was at launch.

    • Yeah, downloads are an achilles heal for this game (wait, what's the tamriel equivalent of achilles?)
    • The classes do encourage different playstyles, it's just more subtle than this is your tanking class, this is you dps class. They each have their strengths and weaknesses, and each play different, my DK plays completely different to my Sorc or my Templar, and even my Nightblade has a personalised combat routine.
    • Well yeah, and some are still broken, FIX THE NIGHTBLADE CLOAK ZOS.
    • Yes, you need to listen and read the text, but the quests are quite fun, and some offer some neat twists (to the story arc).
    • you can try out new skills, and I recommend you do, but most classes end up with three utility skills, one we are levelling up, and a quick heal. It's a playstyle thing, and while I would like two more skills myself, it's something you can live with.
    My advices:

-Find a way to differentiate classes' playstyles or just give a player the possibility to switch "class" on the same pg, cause they're pointless, confusing and just annoying cause you have to lvl up others chars to try out others classes playing in the same way.

    • The classes ARE different, you need to play them and feel the differences, if you try playing a Sorceror the same way you play a Dragonknight you will die quickly and often. And vice-versa.
    • Plenty of people want this, some of the Trials are hard, and the veteran dungeons are not necessarily a walk in the park.
    • Mob density varies a huge amount, sometimes they are thin on the ground, other times you kill one mob only to instantly (or even sooner) attract the attenntions of the next mob.
