What is your opinion of the 1.6 Horse System?

This is a nonbiased poll I wanted to make because, I'm curious.
What do you think of the new way horses work in 1.6?

The Current System:
  • Horses are purchased with gold from the shop
  • You can feed multiple horses 1 food per day to customize that horse only
  • Feeding is permanent, horses can only be fed 50 food

The New System:
  • Horse skins are purchased with gold or crowns from the shop
  • You can train yourself in horsemanship skills once per day to impact all of your horses
  • You can unlock all 150 riding traits on every horse, but so can everyone else
Do you like that all horse traits are character-wide rather than per horse?
Is it better that we can customize our skins and not train multiple horses at a time?
Is there anything Zenimax can do to make the new system better?
Provide any relevant feedback regarding mounts here.

In all honesty, I see pro's and con's to both systems.
I'm a little disappointed that I can no longer customize each of my horses, and this makes each one feel less unique.
It forced you to make a real choice; do I want the extra bag space, or my horse to go faster? Will I use this horse for pvp, or adventuring?

What really concerns me is that if horses traits are account wide, doesn't that mean that every single character gets the inventory buff? That's up to 8 inventory spaces for 250 gold!

Maybe I'm just sad that I know in the future, the traits I have for my horse are going to be exactly the same as everyone else's.

EDIT: Horse effects are character wide, not account wide, so my concerns are obsolete!

First thing I noticed when I logged onto the PTS was that my black horse has saddle bags.

I purposely did not lvl the carry capacity, because I hate the way the bags look. Now every horse I have, will have bags. Maybe if they didn't look so horrible, maybe a redesign or the option to have them not show.

To me I like that I can just snag all traits and focus on collecting the different mount styles. But what can I say, I'm a big mount and costume nub.

They're not: the horses are shared across the account, but this only means that if you have a brown horse on one character, all characters can use the brown horse. The traits are on each individual character as their riding skill.

Yep this is dumb. Those bags look terrible, and I have a mule mount and an actual speed mount for this reason. Please make this a removable feature ZOS.

What's not to like, fixes the issue of choosing speed vs. inventory.

You don't like the way it looks? Readjust your focus to how it functions, the only thing that affects game play.

I love this change to be honest, I was very disappointed in early game days when I worked out you couldn't unlock straps/face armor/bags all on the same horse. Performance is dandy but if my horse isn't pretty enough it's all for naught.

In seriousness I dig the change and am glad to be able to get some extra bag space. Fingers crossed for them to add in a mammoth mount

It's not 150 riding traits its 180 riding traits, the limit is currently 60 per riding skill on PTS.

I love it, but agree that the option of what shows (straps, bags…) should be user modifiable in the options screen along the lines of "show helm".

I really liked the sleek look of my fast horse in PvP over my bag laden farming mount I use for the casual Sunday morning jaunts through Upper Crag.

I just wish they would have told me before I bought several horses at 42K per. Even if they would have said something back when they announced 1.6 last year I would have stopped buying for each character.
Yes I get 10% bonus apparently but that does not makeup for the huge gold expenditure.
And the fact that I only get something like 7K if I sell them.

I leveled so many horses to max and what happens to those since they are all imperial horses? I guess 6 months of leveling those things is deleted. Also which one do i get the keep? the one that was equiped?

Not a problem. Yes, still H for horses, and to pick which one you use, you just right click on the picture in the menu and choose Set Active. The menu for Pets looks exactly the same (costumes as well). Just right click, select Set Active and off you go with your chosen pet / costume. It's actually very nice.

Why do people keep saying it is account bound? My NB and my Templar have different horse stats. If it were account bound they would be the same.

True. You only get what you've fed for per character, but you can use every horse skin you have on your account across characters.

I'm curious about how the expensive horses will work. Does the fast horse still get a 10% speed boost over all the others? Or is that all gone? Was my 47k for that fast horse just a waste now?

It kinda sucks at the end of it all we'll basically be riding the same horses, no differentiation with all the skills maxed. Also blows to be losing a LOT of 42k horses. I don't mind that I paid for the horse upgrades that translates to the new skill but keeping one and losing 8 is a lot of chaching.

I personally like the current system. It's more "RPG" like. I like the idea of having a FAST horse for when I need to go from town to town (I don't like using WayShrines) and I like the idea of a PACK horse for when I'm dungeon delving.

I do think the 50 levels to the horse is a bit low though.

Ultimately, I think the change in the Horse system is actually away from what I was hoping would happen, but with the new Crown Shop, it makes more sense I guess.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.

Can those skills be upgraded at the same time? (Upgrade speed, stam and capacity by 1 each day) Or is it choose one per day?

Spending 120 days to reach max when I can currently level 2 horses in 50 days and swap them out would suck. (I'm only concerned with speed and stamina)

I would prefer the new system if it weren't a blatant way to boost mount sales in the cash shop, as opposed to a convenience feature for their loyal customers.

The more leveling of each mount=the fewer mounts sold in cash shop.
