Anyone have any numbers yet from the PTS with new numbers on drinks? I'm curious to see how much they are buffed and if they will actually be a compelling option relative to food in 1.6.
I would download the PTS client myself but it says I don't have sufficient hard drive space for it and I'm not really wanting to move games off my SSD if I don't have to.
So if I recall correctly.. the current VR5 drink i've got is 8.0 H, M, S. This would probably put the buff at around the 30-40% margin. If Stamina and Magicka did not increase damage you could make a case for regen food during raid boss fights probably when encounter time is large enough that regen food gives more stats than raw food, but certainly with generally low encounter times in solo and small group play and regen via heavy attacks, I see absolutely no reason for anyone to use regen food.
I agree with you guys, I just can't see how there is a compelling choice between food and drinks like they are trying to say there is.
The only thing I could really see being useful might be Magicka regen for pure healers. If you aren't dealing enough damage to make +dmg worth it and you are more worried about sustained healing I could maybe see a case for magicka regen food, but otherwise +dmg is just too powerful to give up in almost every situation.
For the classical tank style, +health all the way, you aren't worried about health regen in a group with a healer anyways.
The system seems like it would feel much better if you could just use both.
My understanding is that in 1.6 Food and Drink do stack. I just tested this and can see that it is currently not stacking on PTS. One replaces the other.
There was a post recently from ZoS stating they wanted there to still be a compelling choice between the two so they 'significantly' buffed drinks. However, a 30% buff is negligible at best and does not present a compelling reason to use drinks over food, mainly due to the +dmg you get from stat food.
