Bretons less effective?

OndursKelto
Because spell resist will now become one with armor rating, does Breton as a racial choice become less effective? (Im a DK)

I've been considering rolling a dunmer for a while now for the fire resist but kinda told myself to settle down because 1.6 may make spell resist (and being a Breton in general) better.

Do you think this changes much? Also, am I selling my race short as a decent DK or are other races a better choice? (I want to be as competitive in pvp as possible- this is why i am asking)

No one ever chooses Breton due to the "increase spell resistance" passive because it makes 0 impact in the game. They choose it for the "reduce magica cost" passive.

So you're saying Breton, in terms of spell resistance, will be even less effective than it already was. Ok, thanks. Well then I guess I'm curious to know if Spell Resistance will continue to be '[worthless]' now that soft caps are gone...

Now as for reduced spell cost of 3%; people would choose a race for that? Seems like High Elf has more to offer in that regard (regen 9% and spell damage 6%). 3% of each spell is nothing... If a spell cost 300, that's 9 magicka... Is that really that great of a passive?

You can stack it with other set bonuses for instance. The race passives are not supposed to be game-changing, but as for the spell resistance Breton passive, I do think it is very weak in comparison to others.

It's difficult to say what an extra 3000 spell resist will do for your survivability. There may also be aspects of the Champion system that will further compound any benefits you see from spell resist (e.g. +Spell Resist by a percentage of your current spell resist). It may at least counter Major Breach effect against you (ignores 4960 spell resistance).

It's too early to say with any definition.

I rolled Orc DK, I was going for a tank. Now I enjoy DK dps. Some claim that race isn't game changing but, compared to a Dark elf DK the dps is fairly significant. I had hoped they would allow race change but since that seems to not be the case I will now grind my Dark Elf.
