What Has Changed?

karenbishop69_ESO
Heya!

So, I played during the Beta while that was still going. When the game went Live, I couldn't get passed the launcher. So, I dropped the game and moved on to others. I only sub to one game at a time, if any game. Currently subbed to SWTOR, but thought I would check this out, again!

I could read the changelogs, and I probably will. But, since I wasn't there before the patch or after a patch, I can't really have an opinion on it. So, that's why I'm asking all of you! "X ability now does X damage, instead." or "New area/mechanic added!" Means a lot more to someone that played the game more than to me, as someone who only played beta. So, any opinions would be great! Thanks!

    This summary should help.

I started outlining the most important changes, but then I looked at my post and decided it's easier to just read a better organized changelog created for returning players. :D

Awesome, thanks! I'll read through it, and post any questions I have. Such as, "How does [change] affect your gameplay/enjoyment of the game?" Again, thanks!

There will also be humongous patch notes posted for the 1.6 patch tomorrow that basically change the whole game upside down, you might want to read that.

Haha. You might want to take a day off to read it. 63 pages last I checked...

Ah, I see! Thanks. So far, looks pretty neat! I didn't know you could steal in the game, haha. And, spell crafting looks pretty neat, as well. They seemed to have added new gear, which is awesome!

A lot of the negative reviews I read about this game don't make sense to me.... "Too much like an MMO!" Is basically what a lot of them seem to say. Is this a bad thing? I mean, I want to play an MMO... Were people expecting the same experience they got from single-player TES games, and had unreal expectations because of it? Or, is this actually a valid point? I play nearly exclusively MMO games. I expect a grind (level/gear), optimal builds, losing a lot, boring quests, ect.

Where can I find the 63 pages? I see the Justice System in the News section. Looks pretty interesting!

Many did. Some accepted ESO for what it is, others moved on. Well, they do have a point: an Elder Scrolls MMO should have been a sandbox with housing as a release feature. But it isn't, so we have to work with what we've got.

Keep in mind there's no set date for spellcrafting, it's still far in the future. The Justice System will be coming soon though, so that's nice.

I guess the most important changes would be these:
    • veteran rank changes - veteran points converted to normal XP, each rank requires 1 mln XP
    • a new veteran zone called Craglorn. Mostly group content. Includes 12-player trials (raid-like instances with leaderboards) and Dragonstar Arena (4-player arena with 10 stages).
    • new veteran dungeons
    • solo and dungeon scaling - solo quests now scale to your level, dungeons scale to the group leader
    • daily crafting writs and Undaunted pledges (normal and veteran dungeon every day, give keys of three qualities unlocking special rewards)
    • guild improvements: tabards, traders (allowing everyone to buy from your guildstore)
    • armor dyes
    • new trait (nirnhoned), new style (Dwemer)
    • an assortment of combat tweaks

edit: I just noticed there's no mention of Provisioning changes in that Reddit post. It's also getting reworked to be more streamlined and take less inventory space. Fishing will finally be useful, as some food recipes require fish.

They'll be posted sometime tomorrow. They're still polishing them up and translating to French and German.

Thanks everyone for the helpful answers! I think I'll check back in a day or two and read the patch notes to make a decision. Seems this next patch/update will change the game pretty significantly. Right now, it seems fun, and something I would like to try. Also, so happy to see they added dyes! I don't expect this game to be as colorful as say SWTOR (which, really isn't that colorful), but running around as a trooper in yellow pants, green chest, red helm, with white gloves looked silly. I don't know if this game had a similar "problem", but dyes normally alleviates that. And, I'll admit... I do care a lot about looks! Haha.

Again, thanks everyone. I feel like after reading the patch notes, I'll be checking out the game. The game looks fun. And, seems to offers more than I thought. I thought it would be the usual grind with some eng-game content. But, the Justice System, vampire/werewolves, the ES lore... seems like a proper ES MMO game! MMO being the keyword, haha.
