Limited Race Selection for non-subscribers?

Has there been any mention of races being limited for people who don't subscribe (or haven't bought the race in the Crown Shop)?

If they do this I think it would make sense to limit non-sub players to playing:

Nord: Ebonheart Pact
Altmer: Aldmeri Dominion
Redguard: Daggerfall Covenant

EDIT: Changed BRETON to REDGUARD

That's super dumb. Why would you limit races to someone who buys the game?

    OP, dont get confused.
    B2P =/= F2P.
You paid for the Game in State X with X amount of Races, and that is what you get.

Ah! Another way B2P is different from F2P. Good point. I guess that will come a ways down the road, eh? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I had Bretons but @wing didn't like that I didn't have a stamina class! lol.

Nah, all the basic races are so TES hallmark-ish that I don't think people would appreciate that sort of thing happening.

More likels, adding new races tot he crown store in some future update... Maomer? Falmer? Reachmen? Perhaps even Goblins? Who knows...

(though in such a case, i definitely would want an option to change a characters race...)

For B2P I doubt they would go with limited races. If they are forced to go with a Free 2 Play model because they still failed with a B2P model, then I could see them limiting the races to those who did not buy the game (and they would stop selling the game at the time of Free 2 Play role out)

Perhaps race change? Or faction change? I see these as money makers. Look what WoW did. The made hand over fist cash doing these.

    Vierna Do'urdenx V16 Bosmer NB

I completely believe we COULD get additional races in ESO in the future. It would be cool if we could have sub-races that tied us to certain clans, like the Forsworn and Reachmen.

I'm not sure what I would think about being allowed to play some of the wild races like:
    • Falmer
    • Goblin
    • Riekling
    • Giant
    • Centaur
    • Harpy
    • Hagraven
    • Lizard Men
    • Minotaur
    • Grummite
Or pretty much any wild, semi-intelligent race in Tamriel. They couldn't have us play as a Minotaur and go through all the faction quests.

Perhaps if the wild races were "grind" races where each race would have a storyline all their own and then these races could attack anyone, at any time (open world PVP). That could create some pretty interesting mechanics in ESO. I think that might be a unique addition to this type of game

if there is ever an Elder Scrolls Online 2 I really hope they set it in the First Era. There are SO many races that are extinct by the time of ESO. And before someone chimes in with "You're getting ahead of yourself" I know... I'm getting ahead of myself. lol

Why are you even making suggestions for it?? that's horrible!!! if that happens, I will happily join the B2P crowd in their outrage.

Besides, I am sure they will have access to all the races, it comes with the game itself.

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned it because I skimmed, but not only is it the only "oh they bought the game thing"....

But what would happen if you subbed and made a restricted race character then the sub lapsed? Would you not be able to play that character? That would be strange.

    Indeed it would.

I wasn't really suggesting that this be done... More wondering if anyone had heard it mentioned.

I could see, as @TheShadowScout‌ suggested, that additional races be added and be behind subscription/crown walls.

I know you're not suggesting it :- ). I Think we're all wondering what other changes might occur during the business model change that haven't been explicitly stated. It's a confusing time for sure!

I just wanted to bring up that sub only would be funky on an existing character. They could go around it by making unlock able for life as a race for all future characters on your account or one time purchase of the race for one character on your account, I guess.

Absolutely yes. I'd also suggest to add whales as playable race to cash shop or as DLC.
