I can't speak to anybody else's intentions, but this doesn't seem off to me. Almost all of my crafting services are delivered COD in mail, and when I buy items or services I ask that they be mailed COD. Since launch I've only had two people insist on direct contact, and literally dozens of transactions done by mail.

I wouldn't ask anybody to interrupt what they're doing in game just to trade. I trust people to finish their quest, dungeon, siege or whatever and deal with the item mail when it's convenient.

Well, maybe they really don't have time. I often prefer to cover the COD fee instead of waiting around until the other person reaches me or worse yet, port to them while they port to me, resulting in a cascade of ports because we evidently suck at communication and can't decide which one of us should stay put. :P Or they're already in a group and don't want to disturb their friends' game to trade with you directly.

It's easier and faster with COD. I rarely trade in person unless we both happen to be in the same place.

Possible, but someone could also be telling the truth. Who knows?
Anyway, if you don't feel comfortable trading with COD or you don't trust it, then don't trade like that.

I had no issue with people who wanted to COD when buying something from me. I just told them they had to cover the cost.

As a crafter myself I don't really mind sending a CoD.

Sometimes when people can't meet up to trade they could possibly be busy, or they could be with a group of friends/guildies and don't want to hold them up so he can buy a few things.
