prose08b14a_ESO✭✭✭Forgive me, I forgot that you still have to purchase the game itself. Then, later, you have to use "crowns" to "acquire" the Downloadable Content. You can purchase these "crowns" with cash or get a handful thrown at you whenever your subscription is renewed, much like the Sony Online Entertainment model. It would seem that ZOS is selling out on this one, guys.1

grimjim398✭✭✭B2P not F2P is the mantra people are using to preserve at least a shred of dignity about this change. Just as people are using the fact that they can continue to pay a subscription every month as a pretense that the essential financial model of the game has not deteriorated but rather has been enhanced. Doublespeak works.4 -

Free-to-play (F2P) refers to video games which give players access to a significant portion of their content WITHOUT PAYING ANYTHING. There are several kinds of free-to-play games, but the most common is based on the freemium software model. For freemium games, users are granted access to a fully functional game, but usually has pay gates everywhere so players must pay microtransactions to access additional content.
Buy-to-play (B2P) refers to video game which players have to pay a one time fee to access the entire game. (usually retail cost of $59.95) Most are of the MMORPG format. which usually will have a cosmetic shop in order for the developer to have a cash revenue to keep the game updated, add more content and fix bugs. when DLC's become available for the game, players will have to pay additional fees.
Hmm,as of right now, i think this game is falling under the B2P format and NOT the F2P format. but that could change over time. and IF they implement the F2P format, i will just stop playing the game. no big deal, there are too many games in the world to get upset over something as petty as a game .2 -

I lol'd it because we really needed another post boo-hooing something that was announced days ago.
P.S. - the B2P vs. F2P argument is silly. It's clearly Buy-to-Play. What else would Buy-to-Play apply to if it doesn't apply to a model that requires you to "Buy" the game, and doesn't have a required subscription.

DLC will be available to any ESO Plus users (basically, all those who continue to pay their subscription as before). They won't have to spend additional crowns from their monthly/tri-monthly allotments on DLC.Edited by nerevarine1138 on January 23, 2015 4:19PM----
