Yeah! Like FF14! I believe the population is the most important thing for a online game. How many PC ESO players will buy and play a whole new character in a whole separated server on PS4?Agreed, if it was cross-server and you could play with the same account with one sub if you bought the game itself separately and merged the two copies (like ff14), I would buy it for ps4. Not like this, though.
Why console release will fail:
- Most players won't switch from PC to Console, because of Guilds, Communities, Friends etc.
- You can't use addons on consoles, and have to use the terrible standart UI.
- Most Console gamesr are casual and won't play competitively. They will play the story, do a bit of pvp and move on
- In general, console players move on a lot quicker
- They won't enjoy the lore, crafting and exploring. The console crowd is just not the typ for it.
- Most people that were really interested in the game already bought it for pc
- PC will problably soon have official controller support - so you can also play on your couch - and you won't lose all the advantages of the PC version
- Console gamers are not used to Cashshops and subs, most will not use these options
- The community in general is alot worse and younger(does not always mean worse, but sadly often is)
I honestly don't see one advantage for playing this on the console - only if you do not have a PC or can't afford a one that is good enough.
Games like FFXIV and others show just how wrong and bigoted you are .. also, ESO's entire UI design is FOR CONSOLES.frosth.darkomenb16_ESO wrote: »The only issue there is is that balance wise, consoles have sub-par inputs than keyboard + mouse. It is best to protect the console players and let them compete only with themselves.

Actually most of my friends on PS4 they play Destiny. We also do dungeons and raids together in Destiny. I don't doubt if they will play competitively. However~ here is no reason that developers don't mix up mageservers for larger population.

Square Enix did it with FFXIV because M$ wanted to break into the Japanese market so SE were able to say "let us do it or we won't support the XBox" .. ZOS have nothing like that leverage here.

Destiny can hardly be considered a real mmo..
But notice they did not say XBox. That complicates things.
Simple answer is, PSN and XBL don't mix. They look at each other as competition. I think there is a similar feeling toward Steam which is why the console transfer cut off a few weeks before the game released on Steam.
I don't mind playing on separate servers. Each lobby only has a max of 256 players anyways. What is driving me crazy is that I have to choose one or the other. I currently have three characters that I am building towards the top. I enjoy the add ons that help me find skyshards, lorebooks, clear zones, and set prices in the guild store. I also love PS4 and voice chat.
I don't want to switch to PS4 and abandon my PC. I don't want to stay on PC and miss out on PS4. I want to play on both!!! No we obviously won't get to connect to the same servers, but why can't my account be tracked on multiple servers. When I log into PC, my account data is retrieved and when I log into PS4, the same. I see no reason why I can't play my characters on both platforms other than that they don't care.
This is a very big deal and the number one issue I am facing with this game right now. And @ZoS, I would happily subscribe for this!

Hmm, I actually find some commercial stuffs between Microsoft and ESO. I noticed that the recommended game for Microsoft surface pro 3 is ESO! Amazing isn't it? ( You can search "Surface pro 3 for gaming" then you will see.) I don't know If this can prove Microsoft and ZOS are "friends"
I just plug in my keyboard in my ps4 and problem of chatting is solved. Yes, it does have usb slots. :PThe everlasting question. As stated already one reason is inputs kb/m vs controller, pc has advantage on this. Also pc people are able to type in chat but for console it's not that easy doable but mostly not fun. Then comes the advantages of addons on pc versus plain simple ui on console.
Now you have guild that runs raids and uses ts, well too bad console people cannot join your ts.
Finally the servers on console usually belong to the company so to sony or microsoft as they administer their networks and are responsible that it works. Now how to make all these agree to have same servers for their users.
