Good Move for ZOS

The whole sub-fee thing is a dying breed. I can understand the argument of what the PC Master Race is saying, but opening the doors for the console market is the best choice, imo. Yeah, with going to F2P you're going to lose some PC purists, but in the process, gain a whole lot more with the growing and passionate console market. Just look at the blogs on IGN for example. People going bananas from this announcement. I can't wait to make the transition to my Xbox One. Good decision ZOS!

Yes, I am sure consoles will make up for everything and not just dabble briefly and be off to the next fad, you know the usual pattern of console players.

Funny how for example Blizzard and a ton of other developers far more competent and successful than ZOS didn't figure out that gold mine by now.

Yeah, why cant people see that subscription never works. Microsoft don't even charge subscription only to be allowed to USE the console people bought....

    ....oh wait.

It's a proven fact that RETENTION is the key to a long-term future for services like MMOs and it's also a proven fact that many console players have the attention span of a goldfish and get bored within 10 hours of playing a new game .. so if you're relying on consolers to provide a stable revenue stream then allow for disappointment to be a possibility.

From some articles, iirc, it was only Microsoft not willing to play ball and compromise with a sub fee and the console network access fee in tandem with their "no cross platform server" policies. Unless it's been settled I believe that's still the reason FF XIV will only be on PS4. It's less about "making the PC master race finally share" and more "Microsoft being a diva and throwing a tantrum to get their way".
