Oh seriously you guys have NO idea what people pay for stuff like pots and *** like that even if they are weaker than the top stuff, people who are lazy to get the best and second best is good enough for most.

We will have to wait and see if they keep their promises though.

Can't wait for FFXV. And I love Square Enix. They don't succumb to freeloaders/leechers demand. It is Square after all, and you either go square or you don't. LOL

    It's BTP, not F2P. There's a massive difference.

Which other MMOs cancelled subscriptions when they announced a change of business model?

No, there isn't. Remove initial purchase and they are identical, in 6 months there will be another announcement of new and exciting changes. This is easing the people into F2P, LOTRO did the same. Objective here is to have a cash shop and milk as much money from it as possible.

LOTRO did not do the same. They were f2p from day one of the switch. Before that sub only.

Exactly. At first the cash shop in LoTRO really was just convenience items.

Then over the next few months they starting making purchases required to get certain items. Or nerfing the drop rates of items to like 0.0001% and saying "YOu can get it in game" when in reality you couldn't.... you'd have to resort to the cash shop.

This is just easing people into the F2P, pay-to-win model.

I think you guys are confused over what f2p is and what b2p is. Essentially its the same exact thing. The only difference being you have to buy a box with b2p where f2p games give you the client for free. Other than that both are pay to win.

Actually its a modified Buy to Play with Premium features; but yes a big difference and I'm frustrated people keep saying F2P. Although on the subject I want to reiterate what I've said for quite some time regarding F2P: it's awesome! It provides good monetizing possibilities for ZoS.

What surprises me most is that the business model they are using is common to multiplayer console titles such as Borderlands or Call of Duty: requiring a base purchase and more purchases for DLC. All ZoS doing is to modify the PC business model to be consistent with the console one; which is easier for them to handle.

The premium time/sub sounds like a nice idea; it is an option used in games like World of Tanks. Great to have when you play heavy; and easy to let go of when not playing as heavily (job/school/family).

I'm gonna continue and sub for 3 mos at a time, I played Neverwinter (and that is P2W, and had like 4 stupid types of currency, I never did PvP though because of the P2W stuff.) and I stayed for 3 mos, give or take to wait on ESO to come out, Sooooo I will stick it out and see what happens....

Ya, I played Neverwinter too. And even bought some currency.

Until one day my 600k Astral Diamonds disappeared across 3 characters, while I was online.

I emailed their tech support, and after about 7 emails they finally decided I wasn't hacked and that it was an in-game bug. They told me to contact in-game support.

Problem is, there is NO WAY to contact in-game support. They just refer you to email support, who tells you they can't help you and to contact in-game support.

My issue was never resolved, and the currency I bought with real cash was never returned.

Last time I will every spend money on Neverwinter or another Arc Game.

I'm also really hesitant to buy any "in-game" currency for ESO either, after my bad experience.

Except its the initial purchase and the purchase/rent of DLCs that ARE the difference.

Stop trying to lop off the obvious reason theres a difference to better fit your illogical opinions.

I agree they used us to pay for their development costs after release knowing full well they were going free to pay as soon as enough income was brought in to recover what ever they needed to.
That which we obtain to cheap we esteem to lightly, it is dearness only that gives everything its value.

They used you? Come on... You payed to play a game. How they chose to use the revenue generated from subs doesn't mean they used you.

When you intentionally mislead someone to get what you want from them, that is using someone. So yes I am accusing them of Using us.
