I will stay subbed. I love this game, but going F2P has me seriously bummed out. I'll give it a chance, but they really need to do it right and find a way to NOT suffer the same freemium fate other games do.
I'm really tired of games that throw up paywalls, and while I know smartphone games aren't 1:1, it seems like most people follow the Candy Crush-esque "give me a dollar or spam your friends!" style of funding. If it comes down to a quest of "The Daedra are going to kill everyone, we need your help!" but you have to pay to save Tamriel-style quests... that'd be the end of it.
For now, I'm quietly hoping they manage to do what so few do right.
I was going to wait to see what 1.6/1.7 brings, but honestly I was pretty much on the fence. After 9 months of little being changed (thinking bugs since beta not being addressed, PvP ignored, etc) and wondering what my $15 was getting me I started putting in less effort with the game and waiting for the updates. But B2P made up my mind for me. I hate B2P/F2P games and I am sorry that the industry is moving in that direction. So I said good bye to my guildies and unsubbed like I said I would if this happened. I wish ZOS could have been honest and up front with us (as it is clear now why so much was neglected and pushed back).
