I will probably not leave after B2P, just cut back on how much I will be here. This isn't by any means intended to be a goodbye thread.

That said, I am curious what people will do.

based on every other MMO that went F2P/B2P - it will still be a nice game for the next 3-6 months.
Then the initial cash-flow will stop, and all the usuall F2P garbage will apear in the store...

and THAT's when I'll be gone for good

Given my restartitis and molasses leveling speed, it should be a long time before anythng but changes in the community will affect me. If folks are actively unpleasant, I could be driven off, but otherwise I could spend a lot of time enjoying content already in-game.

Just like other MMOs, it will be like turning up the heat on a frog in a pot of water. We won't know we're boiling to death until it's too late. Leaving now, don't need to be here for the slow, painful decline.

I agree, but I'll probably wait it out because there certain parts of Tamriel I really want to explore which I'm hoping will come sooner rather than later. I know in the twitch stream they showed the clockwork city.

This is the best answer for me. I'll wait and see. If or when they start having items in the cash shop you need in order to play in new dungeons or defeat new bosses, then I'll move on to another game. Untill then I'll continue to pay a sub for ESO Plus. As for the new hoards of f2p children, I learned the skill of ignore dumb people in MMO along time ago. (Actually feel sorry for PvPers who are going to experience the squads of kiddie greifers coming to a Cryodiil near you soon. non-vet first but they'll get to the vet campaigns soon enough.)

Yeah I came from GW2 when this launched. I haven't decided if I'll keep subbing. Most likely I will stay subbed the first month to get the "Veteran" rewards. The twitch stream said it'd be like 500crowns +100 for each month subbed. Each ongoing month is an additional 1500. So that first month I should have something like 3300(1500+500+1300) crowns to play with and try things out.

You are right that should have been a separate option. Mentally I had kinda lumped it under "I love ESO" but looking back I can see how someone could not have a problem with B2P yet not really love ESO too.

I wonder why so many polls are getting removed. Only thing I could think of is people stating in the OP that they are leaving or something, making it a "goodbye" thread. Which is why I expressly noted this wasn't a goodbye thread.

at first read this all sounds like another Destiny and/or Rift move. as we now know Bungie(Destiny) charged us with DLCs for content we had already paid for with pre-order and Trion(Rift) went F2P fashion show dress-up with a hint of new content and features.

As it stands now, NOTHING in the cash shop is supposed to be needed nor will it be better than stuff you can get in game. However, like @Xendyn‌ I've played my share of MMOs and seen cash shops corrupt over time. I just hope by the time it corrupts into P2W I will have gotten to experience the places in Tamriel I want to see.

Like you said, I feel bad for the PvPers though. Ignoring people while going about PvE content isn't so bad, but it'll bring a lot of change in the player base of PvP.

Yeah the way it was described sounded very reminiscent of Rift. I don't know about Destiny. I really don't console game anymore. I just use my PS3 controller over bluetooth with PC if I play a game which I feel would be better with a controller.

The Champion System is only rewarding people for playing Veteran Rank characters. What about people like me that spent most of their time in Cyrodiil and not in the treadmill PVE rat-race? I'm getting almost nothing. 100 hours in PVE will get you from level 10 to 50, while 100 hours in PVP will get you from 10 to 15, maybe. I feel like I played the wrong game and it's like a slap in the face.

The Loyalty System will reward people for subscribing from day 1. What about people like me that was heavily into beta, pre-ordered Imperial Edition at full price, and had to take a break due to real life issues? I moved over 1000 miles. I'm getting nothing. How was my beta and pre-order before launch not loyalty? It's like a slap in the face.

What little I did accomplish is being wiped out by a cash shop and XP boosts and whatnot. It's like a slap in the face.

I've probably spent nearly $200 hours and over a dozen played days on my account. What am I getting for all this trouble? Now you're going B2P (low-cost F2P) and my time and money feels unappreciated. It's like a slap in the face.

I will stay, but I'm not optimistic based on past experiences with MMOs going down this road.

It all starts out hunky dory, but after about 6 months the sole focus of development becomes shinies in the cash shop. And that's when cash shop items start offering more than "convenience and customization". A lot more.

I don't know about @Morvul‌ but I will keep wasting time with it because there are some parts of Tamriel I hope get released to be able to explore before ESO falls to ruin.

Clockwork City was shown in the Live stream which I want to see. Nothing has really been shown of Elswyr areas in any of the TES games, maybe Arena, but I would like to see it. The desert place they showed looked pretty interesting too.

Wow, you sound like me. I've been playing long enough to get a loyalty pet, but my highest level character is 31

Yesterday evening I spent hours playing and skype-ing with two friends. We went into Touthmaul gulley. My character (altmer sorcerer) is just past the point where you don't gain experience for something that low; she's 13th. However it was beautiful, I had fun, and we had a good time. I like the story, I feel for how crappily the goblins have been treated, and in my personal universe, the extended clan of my altmer character is going to negotiate a treaty (an honest one) with this tribe.

But not one experience point (I checked). Probably could have gotten some if I actually opened any of the chests, but the other players really liked that part, so I didn't worry about that.

I will say at one point I/she picked up a really lovely altmer shield which leveled to her. And a really nice ornate looking axe; which also leveled. So now she's going to explore 1-hand and shield for a while (this is a character who is still in the 'trying different stuff to see what works/feels right stage').

yeah, I voted for "stay and see how it goes", but I have to admit - having played through several other MMO's that transferred to f2p (or had a f2p model to begin with), cash shops and artificial time-wasting grinds seem to invade slowly but surely in every cash shop model I've played with

with the *possible* exception of gw2 - I never bought *anything* from their cash shop, but mostly because I couldn't figure out how the hell it worked or why I would want anything from it - their store was baffling, and the game didn't keep my interest sufficiently to spend the time and effort to figure it out

but I think the biggest determinant as to whether I'll stay with ESO or not, is how much the first major dlc costs vs how many "crowns" i've gotten from my continuous subscription - if expansions are large environment/major pve story content, then I'll stay - if they're new *systems* that involve large farm-grinds for progress (see starbases in STO) or tiny expansions for too much money - I'm out

which is really regrettable, because so far I've enjoyed the gameplay of ESO more than any other fantasy MMO out there - but star trek online (and to a somewhat lesser extent, LOTRO) has become the definition of a game whose cash-shop has devoured quality content development, and unless ESO manages to make a tremendous innovation in an industry not at ALL noted for innovation, I expect their cash shop to eventually succumb to the same issues.

I bought stuff from the "cash shop" in GW2, but mostly like char slots bag slots and such, but I always used in game coin to trade in for cash shop coin so I didn't pay any out of pocket cost. In fairness I got into GW2 during beta before the cash shop inflation got higher.

I'd be glad to use in game coin to buy crowns in ESO, but from the sound of it there's not going to be an option for it. So I'll probably just keep paying sub, ignore the b2p crowd the flows in, might even disappear from the forums if they get bad, and ride the thing out until the wheels fall off or I get to experience the content I want to see.
