My Apologies to all of the Apparent Prognosticators

Guess I owe an apology as well. I even told my friends that this game wouldn't be going F2P (F2P, B2P... who cares? Same crap, one costs a little more). I truly believed that. I was waiting for ZOS to come out with a deadset look into the eyes of a camera and say that this game was remaining subscription based.

Man, I really don't want to trust another company again.

Trust is something you put in people, not organizations. Ideals and visions statements are all well and good but there is no way to truly "know" a company or organization unless you know the people, and I mean really know them, not just know of them. Personnel change, things shift behind the scenes, and agendas change. Putting your trust in an organization is what leads to people feeling betrayed or leading to other problems. You can see it in plenty of companies and governments. Not going to soapbox about it all, but going forward I suggest you really get to know the people involved and the ones making the decisions and put your trust (or not) in them, rather than simply towing the company line.

I very much agree here. I think we anthropomorphize companies just as we do constellations and we forget that corporations are not people (despite the rulings and beliefs of some) and that their customers often times are not top priorities.

I'm sorry to all the people I didn't believe about the change in business model. Even if I didn't say so on the the forums, I still thought you all were stone cold f**k nuts. I can't speak for all of the other zos defenders, but I was wrong, you all were right.

ditto defended them since closed beta....I was wrong

First and foremost to the OP - kudos for being man/woman enough to admit that the taste of your foot is like eating stale cow pies. (Just a metaphor) And let me sit right down next to you and remove my shoe, so I too can insert my foot into my mouth.
For those that were right, be gracious enough to accept the humble apologies laid out here.
I supported this "company" as a long time fan from Morrowind. I am totally dumbfounded by this course of action on the part of ESO. I do not feel betrayed or expect a refund, but I am utterly disappointed that the game is now pursuing a F2P / B2P model. I guess I could see the silver lining, 3 subs I now do not have to pay each month to play this game with friends. And maybe, just maybe, the devs will have learned from all the other MMO failures out there and they have discovered the "golden egg" of how to not follow them? But then, I always have been more of a realist, soooooo...... I guess enjoy the F2P until I have to spend good money to even hope to be competitive at end game, then I will just have to see what else it out there. Because for me, I have no problem subbing, I do have a problem with people coming into the game and buying the spot right next to me in a raid. No experience necessary. For that, I will go play Angry Birds or Candy Crush...wait, even Clash of Clans for that matter.
Follow me if I advance, Kill me if I retreat, Avenge me if I die.

When this immediate evil power has been defeated, we shall not yet have won the long battle with the elemental barbarities. Another evil, it may be an invisible adversary, will attempt, again, and yet again, to destroy our frail civilization. Is it true, I wonder, that the only way to escape a war is to be in it?

If I die, you are forgiven, If I live, I will kill you.

Yeah. I'm really, REALLY not happy right now. Every game I've ever played that went F2P became unplayable, with nothing but paywall after paywall thrown up. This really saddens me, and... eugh... ESO was the only MMO I ever truly loved.

    And now...

As long as these crown purchasables are restricted to convenience items and the rest of the model remains the same for a subscriber, I see no reason to be that upset. It actually stands a chance of improving the state of the game if done well. The cosmetics should be cool and as a sub you'll basically get your pick for no additional cost compared to what you've been paying.

If you just stay subbed, nothing really changes. You'll get all content that comes out, and nobody gets any sort of advantage over you competitively over you.

Now, if you end up being able to buy items that boost Alliance Point gains or something of the sort, or if you can straight buy gear, I'd have a big problem with that for obvious reasons. This has been spelled out differently than SWtOR in that all purchases are account bound, so no huge monetary advantage in selling bought items.

I am remaining subbed until I see how it plays out at least.

As I said, so long as and I'll remain to see how it plays out. Thanks for adding nothing productive. Especially since you quoted the first sentence of my post and ignored the rest.

In that case it was all worth it! Question anyone and anything who tries to convince you with marketing, advertisement and "hype". Same goes for politics.

That's a positive thing from all this, enhancement of critical thinking.
