Planned for a while probably. Things like the crown store don't get put together overnight. Likely started planning this months ago, and 1.6 is a part of it, as is the console launch this summer.

Now it makes sense why 1.6 is so late. Most of those patch notes will be changes that will stream line the game for the B2P change. They couldnt go throwing it up on PTS before the announcement.

Expect to see 1.6 on PTS next Monday. Theyll need the time between now and the B2P transition to get things smoothed out for the incoming F2P gamers.

Youre talking Buy 2 Play. Buy 2 Play is where you buy the game, and then play for free between DLC releases. DLC releases must be purchased to partake in.

Well whatever model it is(people on these forums make it confusing as heck:/) I can get over paying for DLC. But if I have to start paying to go thru dungeons and to get the best gear and all that crap, im gone.

I am going against everything I believe in in an attempt to stay with this game, as I do still love it(no matter how much I complain about it) and still believe it has potential.

If this "crown shop" or whatever ZOS wants to call it, ONLY offers cosmetic goods, fine, I can get over that; as long as its not going to become the one place one can get decent gear. Id much rather this than paying to go to the next zone I suppose

So I don't have to pay a sub to play anymore? Sounds good to me!

Wish I could get a refund of all that sub money they used to work out the bugs, but whatever. If all I have to pay for now is cosmetic stuff, I'll just keep crafting my own gear thank you very much!

@ZOS_JessicaFolsom‌ - Will there be an option to port my characters from PC to Playstation when the console version arrives? Can I play and progress the same character on both PC and Playstation?

I just cannot believe this. No wonder 1.6 is so late. I remember when LOTRO went f2p they also claimed they would provide more content etc. Fact is the content slowed to nothing after the f2p switch. They nickle and dime you even if you pay for the VIP membership. This game will be no different. In a year you can spent months getting something that some kid with mom's credit card will get in two seconds.

I don't mind a store full of silly hats however should any buff, potion, foodstuff, stat boost, armour or the like - higher than those that can be crafted in game - be sold in the cash shop then I will take my khajiit into Daggerfall City and use her fur to spell out "stuff you ZOS" on the ground.

This may sound like a bit of a rant but forgive me my anger towards this outrage is taking over my mindset, the way I see it they should split the game into to halves....those who are new to playing it because it is going to be F2P

and those who have been paying to play the game since it's release, the Newbs can get what they pay for and that is "absolutely nothing" or at least blocked from some content, while we who have been here for almost a year should get content early or everything that costs something should be 50% off for us.

I played LOTRO for six years. Saw the game fall into little but corporate pickpocketing. If they do this with ESO I swear I will never touch any other Bethsoft or Zenimax game ever again. This game is too good to kill like this.

Doesn't matter. Once it goes Buy to Play then the devs will be focused on bringing in new players rather than keeping old ones. With a subscription, they know they have to keep working on content to keep people interested.

Wow, I know that they have to announce everything everywhere. You think they could have told their players that have been earnestly asking for ages, before it popped up on some random article.

I think the system message was put in because ZOS forgot to tell its own players, before telling the world and it is damage control. Where is the official post from @ZOS on the forums? Tell your own community before a games website next time please if you plan to drop a bomb on the game? Just a little respect for the paying customers please!

That didn't come with their F2P transition, which was a pretty good one. That game took a massive nose dive when Turbine got acquired by Warner Bros and they were forced to design the game around the in-game store.

Good old hybrid sub. Bang on what NA can handle when it comes to B2P. It is a flat out F2P model unless they prove there is no content gating without the sub.

One of ZOS's many massive and epicly embarrasing fails to ever emerge in the history of MMO management. I don't like jumping the train with the paid beta for consoles stuff, but at this point I really don't care anymore.

As a mac user I was so excited to see a good game accessible to mac players starting out with great possibilities for a fun future. After a year of debugging and game crashes especially in pvp, I was still optimistically defending the future of the game development to complainers, but I have to say this is such a let down. On the bright side, I will get much more real life work done. Time to start looking for other entertainment possibilities. Anyone know of alternatives coming out?

There will be content gating -- the FAQs say DLC will be gated behind either the sub or purchased a la carte by F2Pers. So content gating right off the bat.

None. The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited is the full version of the game, with all previous updates and content additions, including the new Champion and Justice systems.
