I know there are a lot of threads on this but this looks like possibly genuine news.

This article just seems to have the detail that the others lacked about exactly what is free, what you pay for, what things will be called etc. That's why I am putting more weight on this than all the other stuff floating about out there.

The "ESO: Tamriel Unlimited" message is now a pop-up on the game launcher. Coming in March...

There's also a System Message popup when you open the launcher that says:

Something just popped up on a special pop up from the launch splash as a "System Message". It talked about upcoming "Tamriel Unlimited" with a premium subscription "plus" and downloadable content. Not sure if that is official or a hack of some kind, but it did pop up for me.

Looks like the rumors were true. ESO is going buy to play in just about two months. I just cannot wait to see what there is to purchase in the ESO Crown Store!

This is unbelievably depressing.

I just have no clue why anyone would think this will do anything but kill off the community that was just coming back in anticipation of 1.6. Absolutely incomprehensible.

Planned for a while probably. Things like the crown store don't get put together overnight. Likely started planning this months ago, and 1.6 is a part of it, as is the console launch this summer.

I'll see where this goes. If it affects my enjoyment of the game then that will be where the line has been crossed. I watched LOTRO be destroyed by cash shop penny pinching (paying to remove cooldowns on festival quests etc) and I don't want ESO going there.

Pay2Play games, you have to buy the game ones and then play it as much as you want without a sub. Like Guild Wars and Diablo.

If they follow same model then they'll probably charge for new content and cosmetic stuff.

We were told P2P was necessary to keep providing us with new content. They take our money, develop the content and then change the business model so we have to pay to play the new content.... awesome
