Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

Date for 1.6 - You're rapidly running out of time Zenimax

They told us new content every 4-6 weeks. I dont think 1.6 even has any like new areas to quest etc right? Going to be more like 6 months between content than 6 weeks.

You're right they told us 4-6 weeks. No they aren't releasing any new Areas (these are so overrated anyway).

They are bringing out Champion System though, a Horizontal Progression. Does WoW have that after 10 years of development? No.
They are bringing out Justice System too. Does WoW have that after 10 years of development? I would say kinda, the quality of it though? Very bad.

You get to realize that new areas would be just overhyped and wouldn't give much replayability and content after all. Justice System and Champion System are something that will give ESO a replayability and content worth of an Expansion. It might not look like much, but it's gonna be really HUGE.

If any of you played WoW, you should know by now, how they used to release more content yearly than any other MMO (it was impossible to catch up with them). How much did they really release after 2 years with this expansion?

    - Garrison the only "worthy" feature that was added
    - New Zones, which any decent sunday guy cleared in 1 week (casuals 1 month)
    - 1 Raid (which apart from the mythic difficulty, is a pretty much faceroll)
    - 6 new dungeons + 2 old revamped

If you though ESO is suffering from a lack of content, than perhaps you should first look over at the others. I'm pretty sure ESO and FFXIV added more in 2014 than WOD expansion. Other MMOs even way less than these 3.

So you mean to tell me that these people who are so anxious for the patch notes for 1.6, are actually going to stop being customers? I seem to think that those most anxious are probably the least likely to go anywhere.

Some of them? Quite possibly. For some folks (and I am not necessarily including myself in their number) this is simply the the last straw before it breaks the camels back. They either are unhappy with game content, changes or lack thereof, bugs that seem to continue regardless of how many "fixes" go in, etc. This isn't a void where there is nothing else out there for them, there are plenty of other games on the market.

Now though you may be quite fine with discontent people leaving the game, Zenimax has a much more vested interest in trying to retain them. While some people that leave may come back later if they see changes they like, there are a number of them that will never return once they walk away. This is one of the major things that kills games. Changes coming in too late to make a difference for enough people to maintain the costs and viability.

I'm not threatening Zenimax with quitting or anything like that. If I want to quit, I won't post about it, I will simply do it. The reason I am on these forums and posting because I am looking to get communication from them. By the time I am fed up with their service or lack thereof, I will simply leave. Totally agree. I'm sure the devs probably hate us by now.

Initially we stated we prefer to wait for content to make sure it has less bugs instead of rushing it out every 4-6 weeks.

Now they make us wait and we complain they are taking too long.

With such a major update coming to the game I'm sure they are all working their hardest to get it ready.

Time is rapidly running out with 11 days left in January?

Even if they don't make the January deadline, so what?

I'm not sure what fairyland you people live in, but the entire world runs behind schedule a lot of times. Think of getting a prescription, building a house, dinner at a restaurant, the cable guy, airplanes.... all things you PAY FOR.

Seriously, this whole "I want everything and I want it now" mentality is tiresome.

What exactly do people want ZoS to do? Release a major content package before its ready?

What do you think ZoS is doing right now? Purposefully delaying their patch just so they can do what? Irritate you personally???

It will be ready when its ready, till then ENJOY the fact the game still works... Cause I'm betting after they release this patch every bug that alway comes back after a major patch will come back and then some.

    Skills will be broke
    CP will not award correctly
    guild stores will go down
    missions will bug out
    dungeons will glitch
    every add-on will stop working

    ....

Yeah, I'm looking forward to all the new cool stuff, but I'm also enjoying a game that is actually working for the most part at the moment

Honestly, this is the part of game updates that I hate the most -- When we all get to find out which of our favorite addons no longer work, because the person who developed them quit playing the game since the last major update.

I lose a few more every update. :(

I do not find it fine if people are quitting. I just find that people who really want these patch notes are probably more vested in the game than they would like to admit and are not going anywhere. At least not for very long. People that are otherwise fed up, are going to be fed up with or without patch notes.

I know from experience in quitting. I keep subbed so long as I am having fun and if I am not having fun, no patch notes are going to save me and I would leave. When it goes live; if there was something there that I looked forward to, I would be back. If it is just the last straw; I'm probably already gone and not going to bother reading any patch notes anyway.

If I were ZOS, I'd stop saying anything.

You gripe when they don't tell us anything.

You whine when they do and you don't like it.

You scream when they don't do exactly what they said they would even though they don't have to by any means.

You scream again when they make a compromise, which they did not have to.

You thrash around and kick yer feet when they are a few weeks late with a major patch that you somehow assume that they PROMISED by a certain date and that your money is specifically tied to that promise and that date and now you are betrayed.

SERIOUSLY… the fact that you DO NOT HAVE the PATCH NOTES means IT IS NOT READY yet. Duh.

Stand back, read some of the stuff you posted and laugh at your petty selves.

If I were ZOS I would just stop trying and switch to surprising everyone when there was new content ready to go…

EDIT: of course this is only aimed at few people <cough>

Personally it wouldn't surprise me if the hold up is due to console issues.
ie, they got everyone working on the console release now and this patch has been shelved for the moment. or thy just cant get it to work on the console version so there is no release until it'll work on all formats.

Yes, but do you complain 11 days before the deadline? Are you howling bloody murder 11 days early? Demanding an explanation? That is the difference here, people are complaining when there is literally nothing to complain about yet!!!

Do you call the pilot 4 days before your flight and cuss him/her out for maybe not getting you there on time?!? although we don't know yet because it hasn't even happened yet!?

On February 1st your statement would be 100% correct.

I would consider the Justice System to be new content. We are going to be able to do new things we were not able to do before. However, the Champion System is NOT new content, it is game redesign. It is the thing they wanted to do but did not "have time" to finish before launch and so slapped us with the borked Vet system. And THAT I have very mixed feelings about.

I want the update to be quality too, but I haven't actually played the game in about 3 weeks now. I have been downloading mods for Skyrim and playing that. Sad that after 4 years Skyrim is still a better game than ESO. If I can't even see the contents of update 1.6 to know whether it's even worth it to keep paying for this game, then I will probably unsub until they actually release it. I don't see any reason to pay for something that I'm not using and the loss of one or two months of game time means what? I don't get another useless pet that takes up inventory space? So far what I've seen looks really promising but ZOS has a really bad habit of making this game practically unplayable, so we'll see.

Of course - comparing Skyrim and ESO makes a lot of sense... You do realize that it's idiotic to compare single player RPGs with MMOs?!
In some ways it's unfair to compare them. In the ways that matter however it's not. 1.6 is supposed to have many of the elements that Skyrim and other TES titles already have. There are many things wrong with current version of ESO that could have, and in my opinion, should have been different from the beginning. The justice system and spell crafting are two examples of mechanics that will hopefully improve ESO and bring it closer to what a TES title should be like. Again this is my opinion, others may prefer a game that is more similar to WoW.

Here are some of the things that I dislike most about ESO that I feel are completely unnecessary:
    • Classes- Should have been entirely skill based.
    • Block casting- This mechanic makes so much of the content a face roll.
    • Over emphasis on magicka as a resource- The balance is horrible and will hopefully get better.
    • Stealth is far too basic requiring only that you be a certain distance from your target. Nothing is taken into account, such as, armor, time of day, shadows, etc.
    • Many NPCs, especially in the higher level zones like Craglorn are "linked" which makes stealth kills impossible.
    • Themepark- Should have been sandbox. At the very least only the main story should have been themepark.
Enemy NPCs are static, always in the same place and unrealistically stacked together neatly in their own little places. There is no actual intelligence to them they simply run predictable scripts. Not that it matters since you only need to block cast and spam AoE's anyway. In Skyrim I have no idea if or when I will come upon a bear, a wolf, a troll...etc. In ESO I know exactly where to find them and if I wait a few minutes there will be another in the same place. I find that immensely boring personally.

The non combat NPCs are even worse. They don't even react to things that happening right in front of them. The world barely changes even after major quests are complete and the red dialog choices in conversations have absolutely no meaningful impact.

Do I expect that ESO is going to have the same level of graphics as it's single player counterparts? No of course not. I even understand there are certain limitations based on lag and latency which is why I am not complaining about the smart targeting system. But don't tell me they had to make a WoW clone because it's an MMO. Anyone who played SWG back before JTLS and the combat revamp knows that ESO should have had mechanics similar to that game. Not only would it have been more fun and immersive, but by virtue of the single player games in the franchise, it would have fit.

I said it in the first post. Give us more communication. Release the patch notes they've got, or at least the ones they are 95% sure are going in on the first iteration. Some people are equating the release of information as "this update must go live now", whereas I'm simply saying, tell us where we are at, at this point in time. Yes the patch notes will probably change, but that is expected on the test server. What major update was rolled to the test server and WASN'T changed before it went live? None of them. We know it's going to change, but it doesn't mean it can't be shared now.

I don't think so, at least not in regards to going live. A patch this large honestly needs to be on the test server for at least a month before getting pushed to live. When people complain that an update goes out too early (ie with too many bugs) that is centered more around Zenimax not having it on the test server long enough. I realize they have their own internal testing group but that will never come close to having the same number of people putting it through the paces as when it goes up on the public test server.

I'm hoping they are willing to wait this one out on PTS until it's ready to go live. I'm hoping for adequate testing and bug fixes.. which on a patch this big should be at least a month and several updated to PTS.

My fear is that won't happen. They'll cave to all of the "But you said February!" on the forums and push it too fast.

Which is why it should already be on PTS. This is already months late. By the time it hits live we are looking at early summer most likely. By the time they finally push this live they will have been talking about it for a good 33% of the game's entire history. Yet we are told we are wanting them to "rush".
