To my knowledge, no one has left because they think the game might end up going free-to-play. Mainly because no one with half a brain thinks that.

And as always, didn't you quit? Every time I see you post threads like this, it comes months after your promise to leave the game entirely.

What does his decision to quit have to do with the topic? Im a bit confused as he has to be subbing to be able to speak on here. So its unclear where youre leading with this..

Hasn't it been pretty well established that the removal of posting rights on the forums once your sub has expired isn't working as intended?

Well established where exactly? Im sorry if I dont keep up with the Player News Network. But I have yet to run into anyone who is 'posting yet unsubbed'.

When I unsubbed I was not able to post and infact had to contact Support to post once I resubbed.

But sure. Lets pretend as if theres some information EVERYONE is supposed to know that obviously not everyone could possibly know.

I based my comment on the numerous claims on these forums from people who said they were still able to post despite their sub having lapsed, and in some cases from people who said they had played in beta but never subsequently subscribed. They may all be pulling the wool over our eyes, hence my phrasing it as a question rather than as a statement of fact.

You didnt just phrase it as a question. You phrased it as fact.

What I said was : "Hasn't it been pretty well established that the removal of posting rights on the forums once your sub has expired isn't working as intended?"

Which part of "Hasn't it" at the start of a sentence and "?" at the end of a sentence do you not recognise as the basis of a question rather than a statement?

So youre saying that its impossible to convey both at the same time?

Bah, the removal of the 6 month subscribtion is probably a new strategy used to make free publicity. In about 2 or 3 months, that option will probably come back and they'll send a note saying they listened to our valuable feedback and thus are adding back the option into the subscribtion models.

I am counting on this. Soon.

I will say that F2P usually fail to get my attention because they bring so many trolls. I know I would never visit the forums again if it went f2p. And those trolls would spring up all over the game in chat. Then we would see sparkle mounts and sparkle swords everywhere. Immersion would be broken and I would probably lose interest. Just my thoughts. A game designed from the beginning to be F2P has a better chance of success than a P2P game converting over. Track record shows this. Just my thoughts on that.

The only explanation I can come up with is that, not ESO is really going f2p right now, but they ARE seriously considering it as an option they might take in the future, so they avoid a clear no in case it finally becomes the reality.

The thing is I honestly believe they are going to make some adjustments to the current business model once the console version is launched, especially with their dodgy attitude toward the rumors.

I don't think "any press is good press." I know quite a few people that were on the fence on ESO. Now, for them, they have no reason to try it. All the news turned them off from buying and subbing to the game when they can wait and see if it goes free to play instead.
    ...

So people who have been "on the fence" since the game came out, just recently decided in past weeks that they won't be trying the game because of unconfirmed rumours that recently cropped up?

If they are excited enough to wait for f2p, they are excited enough to consider buying the game in the future when the realize that the f2p rumours were a load of BS.
Meanwhile, ZOS got weeks of advertising for free making these people sit on the edge of their seats hoping for it to happen.
    ...
I wonder how many people have been affected by this sort of thought process. I don't think the game would suffer free to play too much and if you like the game, you'll still like the game.
    ...

Personally like the game, but would not stick around an deal with a f2p community. Shudder at the very thought.
Wonder how many people are currently giving money to ZOS and are affected by this sort of thought process...think it might be nearly everyone except those that want to see the game go f2p.
    ...
But if you're on the fence, or like it but don't think it's worth the sub, why would you sub with these rumors floating around that aren't being addressed by the company?

If you don't think it's worth the sub, why would you sub at all? You wouldn't.
Someone who doesn't think the game is worth a sub is waiting for it to swap to f2p or b2p...they don't need these rumours floating around in order to stop them from paying for a sub, they endorse and spread these rumours when they float around, out of a hope to never have to pay for a sub.

To me, it seems like the only people you are worried about this article being bad for are people who don't want to play the game, or only want to play the game if it goes f2p.

The six month sub is not really removed...if you already have a six month sub. My second account re-subbed for 6 months, 12 days ago. The option to get a six month sub to start off with, or to change to, isn't there anymore.

A successful MMO company would never need to stoop so low as to dispel such rumors.

So Blizzard was forced to make an early announcement about new changes to their account models after people dug out information on it in advance?

Could imagine that if ZOS had any upcoming changes to discuss they may make a formal announcement about it as well.
It would make as much sense as not posting because no changes are planned.

To me, it seems like the only people you are worried about this article being bad for are people who don't want to play the game, or only want to play the game if it goes f2p.

I want to say that I was very clearly saying that yes, some people on the fence about the game, or people who might not thinking paying the sub are worth it, would obviously not be wanting to give this game the time of day to really try it out.

My whole point is that there are still people that exist that might want to try this game are hearing a lot of bad press. I don't even care if someone considers free to play bad or good news, it's everything that SEEMS to be pointing to a free to play model that is negative.

With these rumors, my point is people who haven't really given the game a chance have no problem waiting to see if it goes free to play because the press leading to the free to play model suggests the game isn't that great.

My best friends aren't on the edge of their seats or particularly excited for ESO to go free to play. After all of the press lately they've decided it's only worth a chance if the game were free.

I know other people with a similar idea. I'm sure the press could be altering potential consumer's ideas.

I'm not touching upon current subscribers and their reaction to the press because regardless of the rumors are true, you currently have the sub game you want that you can enjoy and know you love.
