REPORT: THE ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE PULLED FROM MORE AUSTRALIAN STORES

Maybe someone should consider ONE little thing? :)
ESO will receive now Update 6 changing A LOT of things.
So MAYBE they will put out in stores new updated version of game?
Just think about it ...you're buying a release version and you need to update it to 6.0 ...this can take ages :) Who would like this? Definitely not new players.
Sometimes developer is thinking ahead ;) providing better solution for the new players :)

P.S. All of you who want ESO to be F2P ...keep dreaming :) Zenimax in investing pretty well our subscriptions and improving game in VERY satisfying rate.
At least we don't pay for new expansions like all WoW players ;) and ESO expansions appear more often than every year or two WoW expansions ;)
Don't use same template for completely different developers. Blizzadr doesn't care about players ...they just want our money (Yes, I'm a former WoW player with 10yrs of non-stop sub). Zenimax is fair with subscription fee at least and they fulfil their commitments.

I've just read almost all of the posts in this thread and I don;t think anyone has mentioned the obvious.

How many of you bought a physical product and how many of you bought it online?

I know "some" people only have cast and no card or paypal, etc, but it's a very small minority.

My money is "to much stock ordered, little to no sales, send it back to the supplier as the supplier knows that the dealers are sitting on a shed load of stock they aren't moving. The supply Chain system will tell them that *shrugs*

Theres only two reasons why anyone bought the physical copy.

1.) They have a thing for having something they can physically hold.

2.) The super special edition with the Molag Bal Statue pulled a few die hard-collectors.

Otherwise I wouldnt be surprised if this game has a large population of Digital copy owners. MMOs public popularity has changed over the years and its no longer widely sold in Gaming Stores across the US like the days when WoW first launched. If you want a hardcopy its no longer readily available like they were in the past. And it wouldnt be a shock that MMO gamers have shifted to Digital for the convenience it provides.

I own a PS4 and with past Playstations I stuck almost exclusively to hardcopies. But currently half of my PS games are digital and a few years ago I stopped buying hardcopies for my PC and have completely invested in digital.

Im not saying I represent anyone else. But I was once one of those 'gotta have something physical' type shoppers that was reluctant to make digital purchases.

Why would it only contain the Launcher? The box copy contains the original game pre updates.

If they are pulling the game because of the changes. They may be looking to re-release box copies with the more up to date game files.

Woahhhh... I am wading through 1.733.133 copies of Ultima Online whenever I force myself to visit my favorite game store. I mean.. since the game is still not f2p, it's amazing to see all the stock of it and sometimes I really wonder how they even manage to squeeze in more modern but obviously f2p products like ESO at all (or Womb of Warcrit or what it's called? Some f2p title, haven't seen it in my store for a while so.. got to be f2p). They even manage to fit in the odd game like Cramp of Booty and Battlefeed 4 and that's despite them being some odd b2p titles. This world is going craaaazy I tell you.

Time to put on Tinny my Tinfoil Hat.

*guiltily runs fingers over Molag Bal statue*

    :/

But yeah, that's the only reason I ordered a physical copy. For Molag Bal and the gorgeous book.

My husband and I both play. We got one physical copy and one digital. If not for the goodies they'd both have been digital.

WHy? WallMart will just keep selling the game even if it goes F2P. :pensive:

I purchased the physical retail copy which came with the explorer's pack and a nice map. I bought it rather than the digital because I don't want to have to download 30+ GB just to install a game. I'd much rather install it in a few minutes using the physical media.

Later on, Zenimax needs to re-release ESO with a new box and disc containing the most up-to-date version of the game so players won't have to not only install the game, but also download the 60+ GB of updates that will have been released by the time 1.6 goes live.

Still on sale in the UK in GAME :smile:http://goo.gl/3sLF9l

Other UK outlets as listed by google today (There are lots more) http://goo.gl/qddvsh

I see no evidence that the game is likely to go FTP, retailers seem to be selling the game with no problems.

FYI; Game (game.co.uk) are not currently selling the PC boxed Imperial Edition of ESO atm because they have run out of stock! They do however point out that until they can restock the physical edition, customers can buy the Digital Imperial Edition from their store, and have no plans to remove the game from their shelves.

REPORT: ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE STILL AVAILABLE FROM PUBLISHER.

A source close to a web browser has reported that Elder Scrolls Online games and time cards are available for purchase from the Bethesda Softworks store. The source has also confirmed that retail outlet Best Buy has Elder Scrolls Online game cards in the stores.
Let's be balanced here, IF ZOS are planning what the OP is hysterically claiming (ALL CAPS clearly shows an over-emotional reaction) then ZOS are hardly likely to pull sales from their own store until the moment the change to F2P is announced.

My reply is balance. If you think about what you just said at the end of the last sentence, you will realize that.

Not many people sit down and think about how to design a process that would roll out a switch from the current business model to a Free type of business model. A process that covers all of the little details in accounting, supply chain, marketing, public relations, programming, staffing and other areas. This is not a trivial thing and it could impact existing contracts and employment, just to call out a couple of things. It is not something that you just decide on Monday morning and, by the end of the day, it is done.

We are talking weeks, if not months, of meetings, discussions, planning, and execution in order to make something like this happen smoothly.

So, no, Bethesda is not likely to pull product from their own store until the moment that F2P is announced.

ZoS you really need to address this... like now.

This has gone to far and is seriously damaging your image to both customers and non (future) customers.

If the game is not changing the fee payment structure then please just say so to reassure us.

If the game IS, then just say so. Keeping us in the dark, and ignoring our questions is detrimental to having an open system of communication with your customer base. I like(d) ZoS because you have maintained a very strong communication medium with us players throughout the development of this game. However, this is not happening currently and it saddens me to see my trust in your organization fading.

May not be part of a normal stock recall.
More Australian video game retail chains are reportedly pulling The Elder Scrolls Online from stores, following last week’s reports that EB Games was removing stock of the MMORPG from sale.

A JB Hi-Fi source told Games.On.Net today that TESO copies were pulled from shelves late last week and “are to be kept out back ‘until further notice.’”

A source at another Australian retail franchise, Harvey Norman, told the publication that that “all game cards and copies were pulled out of Harvey Norman, and the ONLY reason that would happen is because it has become a free product”. The source added they had seen the clearout’s paperwork confirmation and that “if it was being brought out in a different format, it’d have a price drop, not a recall."

    Right...that makes good business sense.

I have a bunch of items that I can sell right now for $40-$80 dollars.

Tomorrow, they will be able to be sold for $0.

    Would I
    • A: Want to sell the **** out of my remaining stock, while it has value?
    • B: Pull all my stock so I can potentially lose $$$.
