Newbie Question - what is weaving?

I've seen several discussions regarding "weaving" but am not sure I understand what it means and it's importance. My impression is that it involves using skills and intermixing with weapon attacks (mouse button.) Is that correct? Why does it matter? My hands are badly disabled and I rely heavily on the dual wield skills in combat, hardly ever use attacks with the mouse button...

Kinda like bobbing except side to side, not up and down..

On a more serious note.. when one skill debuffs an opponent, and the next skill "weaves" into that weakness to do more damage. that is probably the "weaving" you are tallking about. Or varrying skills and light/heavy weapon attacks. Or using the group stuff off ultimates. Orr....

Where is the end game? You just played it.
Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.

It's alternating between skill/weapon attacks. Due to the way the timing of skills/attacks work you can squeeze more damage in than just using one or the other because you can start an attack before the animation of the skill has 100% completed. Attacks/bashes supercede skill animations, bashes supercede attack animations. You can conceivable skill > attack > bash weave, though bashing got nerfed a while back so it's just skill/attack weaving.

As far as we can tell, this is intended by the devs within the current system as removing the ability to clip animations would make the combat feel clunkier and unresponsive- especially for reactive type skills/block/bashes/etc. That's not to say they are 100% happy with it, but only that its better than the current alternatives.

They've actually stated it was not intended, but that they won't be removing it.

I come from a long history of playing Age of Conan. There was a similar mechanic in AoC and for the longest time Funcom stated that it was apart of the game mechanics. There were many that loved it because it was very skilled based... you could pump out more DPS as well as be on the move much more as melee.

However, in the end, Funcom removed it after years of whining from those that could not master the art of it... there are still folks that complain about it being removed and wish AoC could go back to it.

I do hope that Zenimax doesn't ever remove skill weaving... it does take skill to perform and is certainly NOT easy to achieve in massive zerg battles due to lag. Honestly, my take on it is that melee still feels pretty weak in ESO compared to the bat swarm zerg groups and the damage they can pump out in AoE format. Skill weaving as melee doesn't come close to dealing the kind of damage that AoE magic does.

I would love to see melee abilities buffed up... we shall see how things go when 1.6 comes out.
