Will we ever see name changes?

Stuck between a rock and a hard place on this one. I want to change my name. I'm not going to grind out a new character just to change my name (I've yet to even make end game on my main as a casual player). Probably will just quit if it comes down to it until they allow this. Its just silly that you can't do this for something your putting hours of time and a monthly fee into.

You can request a name change. I've got a ton of friends that have done it. Ops is the primary one I can think of because he swapped mains and asked ZOS if they would swap the names and they did... like over night. It was pretty cool.

A paid name change though? Dunno, maybe down the road. No need currently as all you have to do is submit a ticket and ask for one.

I've ticketed twice, once I asked nicely, once I reported my name as offensive. Both times they said no. I'm not even asking to change it I just want to remove my first name.

Maybe submit another nice ticket and if they reject you again press on unless they escalate it? You might be getting lousy luck and getting mean people, I guess?

But if the other tickets are resolved why not try again, especially if others have had success.

I'm confident that harassing devs won't get me anywhere. I might try again soon, but I basically said in my reply that this is silly and that if I had to chose between leveling a new character or quitting that I would to the latter (not trying to be pushy with them but would you level an entirely new char just to change your name? its silly. All they need to do is delete my reserved char name, edit my name, backspace the first name, and hit OK.)

Funny story. I made my characters Smokey McDope and Smokey McCrack. I leveled them up etc then I found out altho I found the names humorous people thought I was some 12 year old and didnt want me in their groups because of my name. I almost got to the point where I was just going to start over. Then a GM came along and told me they were going to force a name change on both characters. I acted like I was outraged but really I was so happy lol.

I chose lore appropriate names this time and havent had a problem with grouping since.

I'm definitely not saying to harass them, just be polite again and then firm.

I'll definitely admit in any game I likely wouldn't want to start a new character. I'm still on my first/main character in Skyrim and it's been a couple years, lol.

I hope more people can add their perspectives to this thread though, because if name changes are happening it's worth trying again. I wouldn't just keep opening tickets at once, but definitely, as I stated, if the others have been resolved why not try again? I don't think it'll hurt as long as you play it cool.

Maybe one of the mods can help push your tickets. That would be cool but I feel like they've been posting less lately.

I hope you can get it to work out, because I would be aggravated, too.

Doesn't impact the character or the game... why not? I think it should cost in-game gold though.

They keep track of previous requests it seems, as they cited my previous ticket in my second one.

I would be happy to pay some sort of penalty.

I really hope there will be an easy to use namechange option someday. Perhaps for an extra fee, perhaps as "time subscribed" reward (say, one namechange per six months subscription... I'd like that), perhaps both.

For people who think of a better name for their toon after playing through the stories a bit, made a typoo they didn't spot in time, or regret choosing their main name while drunk or in some other altered state of mind...

Childish comments like "Changing names are not lore friendly" and "You want to change your name ? Roll another character", "Suffer for the stupid decisions you made for whole life" are coming. Brace your self's.

But rhey are not really worth paying attention to. Changing names is lore friendly, people do it all the time, both in history and stories. Be it witness protection, changing your identity to foil someone after you, rediscovering lost heritage or just because you feel artsy and need an stage name, it happens.

Rolling another character is always possible, but generally we are talking about adjusting a character you already spent months playing at. After all, if a name change was not freely available, but either costly or limited, you wouldn't waste it on some noob you can just reroll, but would only use it if you felt a need to change some near/post 50.

Suffer for stupid decisions... that I can relate to, though to tell the truth, it seems those with stupid names rarely seem to suffer, they just make me suffer seeing them...

Still getting stonewalled by support. I think I'm kind of bored anyway so I'm throwing in the towel. Even with 1.6, there just isn't enough to keep me going right now. Maybe I'll return postpatch just to check out the new digs.
