What if: Cadwell's Gold and Silver each Gave a new CLASS Line

So, anyone that has completed Cadwell's Almanac knows that the rewards are pretty uninspiring for such a monumental task.

What if Cadwell's Gold and Silver each Gave a new CLASS Line? Maybe at the end of Gold and Silver, you could choose a quest-line that would introduce you to a master DK,Sorc, NB, or Temp that would "show you the ways of their class."

Thoughts?

I would prefer to see more World skill lines. No reason to touch class lines.

OK, that works. So the new lines would not be restricted to your class...or you could select class lines from one of the other classes...even their base class lines. You could have a Templar that learns one of the DK skill lines. In a sense, this would convert a Class line into a World line.

This. I would also consider Alliance skill-lines (not to be confused with the PvP Alliance War ones) tied to the lore of the Alliances and the deeds we accomplished for them. They could also be situational or for RP purposes simply so that it would not break the game or gave insane benefits but could enhance roleplaying.

I am always in favor of giving my characters more skills to play with. I think this is a great idea whether those skills be a sample skill line of another class or an entirely new world skill line. As a Templar on my main I would love the other classes to have better access to effective healing skills so I could mix it up and try tanking and dps-ing more often - instead of groups always needing me to heal. Cadwells silver and gold are huge time investments and though fun, the current reward seems a little inadequate. Also maybe the ability to pve with players of another faction could be part of that "skill" reward.
Great idea Geoff. Thanks for reading and happy adventuring.

Regardless of how it's implemented, you just solved the huge issue causing grief for those of us that have already finished silver and gold with the VR removal.

The skill line additions could be linked to the Hero achievements for each faction.

    Brilliant idea!

    Good idea...

But in saying that, I still think the whole idea of doing the other factions' quests is dumber than dumb... although I blame the Beta testers' bitching more than I blame ZOS.

It would be cool to unlock one world skill for: silver, gold and completion of some achievement categories.

Ashlee, that's a great idea too. It's even lore appropriate because PVE dungeons are against Daedra/Monsters and not other factions. All alliances want to save Nirn.

Actually, I think this should be an option for everyone right away in the LFG tool.

To force even more silver/gold quest content on us? No thank you.

Vivec: Worse, buddy. They're buying it.

Yeah but they'd probably plan it so that only characters who hadn't done the silver/gold quests yet could earn the extra class line, face a huge backlash and waste a lot of development time sorting out the mess..

But would this really force more content? Or provide us with further incentive to do the current gold/silver content. I think the latter.

Personally I would love if completing those opened up several "specialization" skill lines to choose one from... would be neat to customize your characters even further. Thus it should in no way be more powerful then the existing skills, just add more options. Kinda like morphing the class itself...

    Nah...it would be retroactive...of course.

But I really like this idea of opening the skill lines of the other classes. So if you're a DK, for example, it would open the skill lines of another class, like Templar, once you completed silver/gold.

People would come up with some pretty crazy builds.

Yes for such a long term quest it was very lackluster reward. But really the quest itself was there to be in perspective the whole reason of helping the other factions and opening them up.

I do wish there was something more. Hell I was hoping for a skill point at after completing it. But no, nothing really significant.

    Just thanks and bye.

Hmmm... it could be done that way, sort of. I would want some limitation though... say, open up -one- skill line of a different class, kinda like secondary class... player gets to choose. Does my Sorceror want Templar heals or maybe better Dragonknight flames? Does my Nightblade want to go for Sorceror magic or something else?

Though new skill lines might be fun too... add a "ranger" animal summoning skill to my nightblade archer? A "necromancer" skill line to my Sorceror? Or would the Sorceror look better with choosing the "cryomancer" line of ice magic? Perhaps that templar may want a "druid" skill line of nature magic?

Of course... both could be combined. A character could get the option to choose one new skill line once cadwells silver/gold is completed... either from a different class, or from new "specialization" skill lines. Or... the specialization when doing silver, the cross-class skill when gold is done? I'd love that!

This is an awesome idea. If I understand it right you are saying upon completion of silver we would get to choose one line from another class, so my nightblade could get dawns wrath and my templar could get daedric summoning. It would probably be madly OP but wow it would give us amazing build diversity.

Just give us the option to change class when we full respec. And also give us the ability to change appearance. Come on, it doesn't take a genius to see that this would be the best option.

But I wouldn't want to throw away all of my progress to start a new class on a respec. Instead, i like the idea of getting access to the other class lines in addition to my current ones.

As far as appearance...yeah, of course, they definitely need to get that in the game at some point..and I'm sure they will.

Maybe not a whole class line. Perhaps an elite skill that has to be found. Something akin to what GW1 did.
