Hey, isn't it time for Matt Firor to post The Road Ahead for January?

Actually I got my question answered on one of the ESO Live Episodes about "The Road Ahead" news. Gina responded that, "The Road Ahead" is not a monthly thing.

With Update 6 coming, I expect The Road Ahead to be coming, as well. I imagine that The Road Ahead has already been written. Firor does not strike me as a "last minute" kind of guy. I know they like to make an "event" of things like this, but I would rather they just put out information when they have it rather than waiting.

Waiting a month to address concerns? Is that wise?

Here's hoping you haven't lost too many people by then. Although at the going rate 1% is too many.
    V14 - IMPERIAL NIGHTBLADE - DPS/TANK
    V13 - BRETON SORCERER - HEALS/DPS
    V2 - REDGUARD DRAGONKNIGHT - MELEE DPS
    V1 - BRETON TEMPLAR - TANK/DPS

to be continued... Nevermind, no longer "to be continued"

He's asking if it's a wise business decision for ZOS to wait so long to address the rumor mills that are currently grinding away. Especially since quite a few players have already left the game due to the lack of response.

I know the road ahead for me and unfortunately, it does not include ESO. I rarely outright cancel an MMO, but rather like to stay subbed even during dry periods of activity.

With the entire game under re-design/development and all the uncertainty it makes no financial sense to even spend the small monthly fee - I've been subbed consistently since early access and have weathered what I consider the normal growing pains of a new MMO. It's different this time, though and when I connect all the dots for me, I create a starry constellation that portends the end for me - for now, anyway.

Obviously, each person's viewpoint on that road is based on his or her own individual perspective and expectations, so I wish the game and its community safe travels.

Don't forget to enjoy the ride! I had a great run with ESO and look forward to reading how all this works out - I'd rather do that from the outside, rather than feeling every bump in the road along the way. Hell, I may not even like new game as it is redesigned.

After not logging into the game for 2 months, I just don't have the energy or desire to read through all these proposed, planned and rumored changes and try to figure out if/how they affect me personally and whether or not to even play certain characters, etc.

I'll skip all that and read the road ahead and similar communiques with the calm dispassion of the unaffected.

I understood just fine. My point is whether ZOS posted hourly to assuage these ridiculous "fears" or monthly, it still wouldn't pacify the "sky is falling" crowd. Also how many is "quite a few"?? I highly doubt any have left over this non issue. People are just silly.

Yes, people have left over this. People who were on the fence anyway no longer feel confident in the direction of the game, nor do they have any faith in ZOS right now, what with them being tight-lipped about things and not addressing rumors.

No, you'd never appease the type of people you're talking about, but those aren't the type of people Kraive, nor I, are talking about. We're talking about reasonable, loyal players who enjoy the game but have legitimate concerns that aren't being addressed.

We both hate seeing people leave the game over these things, but in a way we understand. Neither of us are going anywhere, but others already have, and more will if some clarification isn't made somewhere. There are just a lot of small things that add up to looking awfully suspicious, and since it seems quite easy for ZOS to assuage them, they grow leery at the lack of affirmation that things are going as planned.

Refusing to acknowledge or answer UNFOUNDED rumors IS an answer.

A lot of this rumor-mongering in the forums is people and so-called "gaming news" sites, spreading panic about a few words that have been twisted without accepting that ZoS really has not released much detail about some huge changes.

Where has anyone bashed the game?

Look guys, I realize you're used to whiners and trolls and the like on here, but you're now seeing them everywhere, even where they are not.

Kraive and I love this game. We're going to keep playing this game, barring some huge catastrophic change. That doesn't change the fact that people have left and are talking about leaving. NOT the fairweather gamers, not the chicken little crowd, but reasonable people who have concerns.

I can both enjoy the game, support ZOS, and question the wisdom of their business decisions. Period.

Stop trying to find a complainer to complain about.

A lot of this rumor-mongering in the forums is people and so-called "gaming news" sites, spreading panic about a few words that have been twisted without accepting that ZoS really has not released much detail about some huge changes.

The trouble is it's not unfounded rumors causing people to out right cancel their subs. If you really think no one has left in the past month you haven't been paying attention. People in this very thread have stated they've cancelled subs. People all over the forums have stated that anywhere from 40-80 long time players in their guilds have quit, many due to CP30. Some due to a lack of response on their valid concerns. Just because it is not a concern to you does not make it invalid. While I disagree with it none of these are real concerns to me, I'm still playing and will continue to do so as long as I have fun.

That said, if you average that number to 50 per guild, and I'm sure it's not every guild but feel free to check your own rosters and see how many haven't played since Dec 19 or longer. Average that number you're looking at 10%, last released numbers put subs at 600k, so if 10% leave the game has lost $900k per MONTH. Even if you half that, you're looking at 5.4 million dollars per year lost which could easily be avoided by addressing concerns. Ignoring a problem or refusing to admit one exists has never solved anything.

When games start to lose that much money it should concern everyone who plays. Companies should be questioned by their customers, blind faith and willfully refusing to acknowledge any problem doesn't help anyone.

Players are leaving because they feel slighted, ignored, disregarded and lied to. Whether you yourself feels this way does not change the fact that others do and are leaving because of it. So my original question stands:

Do you think it is a wise business decision to wait a month to address concerns that are causing players to leave today?

    V14 - IMPERIAL NIGHTBLADE - DPS/TANK
    V13 - BRETON SORCERER - HEALS/DPS
    V2 - REDGUARD DRAGONKNIGHT - MELEE DPS
    V1 - BRETON TEMPLAR - TANK/DPS

It is not the road ahead that is a concern.

It is the washed out bridge across the canyon of doubt that must be crossed before we can proceed on the road ahead of us.

Someone needs to rebuild the bridge.

They didn't. They addressed the initial Champion Points issue within 1 week of them returning from the holiday break.

It's hard to see the forest for the trees for those who expect that ZOS should be handing down decrees from the Nine on an hourly basis, as if this would somehow relieve the non-stop emotional freak-out sessions that forums foster.

What most can't (or refuse to) comprehend is that when dealing with systems that are in a constant state of flux as a result of the devlopment process, blathering about the current, and ever-changing condition of new systems does nothing but propagate confusion and chaos to a level that these forums haven't even begun to approach. This is belied by the fact that even the more "measured" communication approach levied by ZOS so far (and complained about as being too slow by many) has still resulted in them having to eat crow multiple times as development continued and changed.

The stupidest thing ZOS could do is risk disseminating vast quantities of inaccurate information that would result from an unwise policy of trying to counter all hysteria.
