Talking to the enemy

Hey folks!

As an old DAoC Vet I really was upset when I found out that I can talk to the enemy - even in Cyrodiil. Thanks to the multi-realm guild system you can chat with them. And since you can /whisper to really everyone, including the members of the other factions, the whole thing seemed a little boring and upsetting at the same time to me.
I arranged with the circumstances and am using this possibilities to tell my "killers" in Cyrodiil what I am thinking of them. Nice and lore-conform smack talk like "You N'Wah! and stuff.

But what do you think? Should we be able to talk to our foe? And if: Why?

As always

Well if this were a real battlefield you would be able to talk to the person wailing on you so I don't have an issue with it really.
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

I've had some really nice chats with enemies in Cyro after fights.

So far only one guy has been a total ***.
At least the spelling is difficult for you.

It depends on who is talking, people who aplay multiple factions, and are just catching up with mates, no problem.
That guy who thinks yelling obscenities at someone who happens to play the other side(s), no, no ,no, he needs to be stopped.
The guy/gal who wants to play as a spy and leak your battle plans to his mates, only if the people who he's betraying can hunt down and kill every alt he has.
The Idiot who thinks saying <snip> is funny, actually I think he needs to be stopped from communicating to anybody.
The vast majority who want to use it sensibily, no problem.
People believe what they either want to be true or what they are afraid is true!

I'd love to be able to hear enemy /say and /yell, but I imagine it would spam up chat in any battle (and adding an option to ignore enemy chat won't help if you can still see allies /saying and /yelling back at the enemy).

It's corny and ruins immersion yes. It seems a side effect of other changes they have made in the design process. It has other poor side effects as listed above.

Also, if this "was a real battlefield" and I shoot you you're not talking to anyone ever again. You're also not even "talking", and can't "talk" magically to someone far away without a comm system. So... reality has no play here. It would be great if it did.

    1. If you shoot me in the toe I am certainly talking.
    2. Suspension of disbelief because of videogames.
    3. What possible immersion are you ruining in PvP?
    4. YUPickonme?

In PvP when you meet a loan enemy player on the field, engage in battlw and have a long, long fight where it's so close either player could be the victor, then it's great afterwards to have a chat with that player.

The ability to do this makes the game more enjoyable for me.
Been here since Feb 2014 - You'd think I'd be half reasonable at this game by now...

maybe a different channel for cross alliance communication that works like /say or /yell but is something different, that way if you don't want to hear it on either side, you could block out the /crosscom (or whatever).

I have never sent a tell to the enemy, but I seem to get some from the enemy mostly whining about getting killed in pvp, like I care what they have to say and it is always straight to ignore, I do not like the feature myself, used to get hate tells in swg kinda burnt me out on enemy communication.

I've had some great back and forth convos with enemies. Some have ended up on my friends list. I've also gotten some awesome rage tellls, some pathetic ones and a handful that just said "reported" (for what exactly I don't know, don't ask, don't care). I don't respond to most, but I would miss them all if they went away. I feel a little snubbed when I go a night without hearing sweet nothings from my foes.
