Guild Store and Blind Bids

The whole "Raffle" to afford a kiosk things just pisses me off to no end. I left two of those major trade guilds because of the guilt trips and accusations they made against players who didn't play the raffles. I do NOT play video games to be yelled at by tinpot dictators who think they have the right to coerce you out of the money you've earned when your sales are already contributing to the guild bank as it is.

Sadly, I agree. Though I have raffles, I try and stay away from guilt trips. However, when I have 20 people donate for raffle but 100+ ask "where is the guild store" when we lose a bid.....a guilt trip is in order. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Why the system needs work, big time.

It's in order "For those 100 people". Not the entire guild. IE: Mass mailing the whole guild is a no no!

Mass mail I do not do.

Sorry mate, you are the only "cute" example here. Good luck with your son in college. :)

Thanks! Shouldn't be a problem for him. Technically he will be half way through his sophomore year when he starts. He has already earned that many credits from dual credit courses.

So, I see this is dying again. Here is an update: It is NOT fixed.
I feel we really need more rallying here! We, the GMs, are not part of a 'majority' and thereby we will not get much attention for this in forums. Especially with such hot topics like 1.6 going around. 1.6, the place where this should/better/must be fixed.
This is also only a major problem for the high end stores. i.e. Belkarth, Craglorn, and Mournhold, Deshaan (EP pledge location), as well as (I guess) the other factions pledge locations. This limits this problem down to even fewer who notice.
HOWEVER, this is no little problem. Let me explain. Competing for a prime location is very very competitive. Large amounts of gold are being dumped here. These large amounts of gold don't come easy. Over the course of a week, and in order to secure our spot, we work very hard to accumulate the funds we need and still manage a profit margin. To have this threatened by bad programming, and over the course of such a long time, is simply unacceptable.
    DO....SOMETHING, I mean.....

chmod 777 anyone? Linux joke. For those that understand this joke, is this not what EVERY member of a guild in game seems to have when observing our "blind bid"? Hey, ZOS, "chmod" correctly!

Another option for a fix. Completely remove the "Hired Traders" tab.....COMPLETELY. We know how much the bid was, especially in prime locations, it took us all week to come up with such a ridiculous amount!

Something has to be done. ZOS needs to respect the GMs here, and quickly. Kiosks is already something that causes extra strain for us GMs. The very least you can do is remove the OBVIOUS strain for us. Something.....please....soon.

Week after week, and from what I understand, since 1.3. HOLY MOTHER OF...

In some locations, we are talking of a quarter million in gold. Respect our monies ZOS. It is key to our success. I don't know why this is not on the top of any list.

Kiosks have enough controversy as is. Remove the obvious problems, simple to fix problems....AT THE VERY LEAST!

I don't make silly threats like "I will quite this game if...". But I can tell you this ZOS. I have 500 members in my guild. Fully involved in another 2-3 500 people guild. I have clout, and people listen to my opinion. I reframe from showing disdain in gchat because I love this game and wish to not cause negative PR ripples, even in the slightest. Matter of fact, I try to deter such conversations and point people to the forums for such arguments, as I want my gchat to be more about gameplay than 2 hour long whine fests that have forum characteristics. In other words, my 'leashed tongue' is getting itchy. Am I saying I can kill population opinion single handedly? Of course, not. What I am saying is, I am one of the devout. I am one of the optimistics. I am one of the positive energies in game. If I change these "I am's" then my opinion COULD effect others. Slippery slop, I know. I guess my point here is, GMs need attention too from ZOS. GMs should be listened to, responded to, and given attention. This is more than obviously a GM problem only, so hence the solicited response as such.

Added Notes: I have done some experimenting over the course of past couple of weeks. I have discovered even more "we don't really care about guild's gold" problems.
2 weeks ago: I decided to try to do a pre-bid for reasons I wont mention. Within this week, I placed the pre-bid, and then come back to add more. The mechanic was: pre-bid, then ADD the amount more to make for the final bid.
1 week ago: I place the pre-bid, then when I come back I have to REPLACE the bid to make it final.
Example: 2 weeks; 100g prebid, next bid 200g, for total of 300g bid
1 weeks; 100g prebid, next bid 300g, for total of 300g bid
When you are in the quarter million range, this can be scary and tough to deal with. WHY ON EARTH WAS THIS CHANGED OVER THE COURSE OF A WEEK?
Next added notice: I cant even see my OWN BID from last week under "Hired Traders", but I can see it for a guild I AM A RECRUIT IN. This is random for each week and thus has different results each week. REALLY?

Since 1.3, ZOS has treated my efforts of success has minimal and not worthy of a fix, along with any other guild who competes for these "prime" locations. This should not be.....and I am having trouble with "optimism". Can anyone help me?

Seriously, this needs a fix. 1.5.8 maybe?
Can any dev speak up here?
Yes, you are "aware" of it. But I, WE, need more than that.

I am the GM of a very small PVE Guild and a member of one very successful Trade Guild.

I see the amount of time the Trade Guild's GM puts into keeping our trader in a prominent place and the horrendous amount it costs. I do not wish to take on that kind of workload I often wonder if he actually has any time for playing!!

However his dedication and constant attention does mean that although our spot costs a fortune, the amount of funds in the Guild Bank are steadily rising and we no longer have the need for raffles to pay our way.

My smaller guild did discuss whether we wanted to go down this route and unanimously decided against it, we don't even have a store preferring to act as a community of friends who supply each other with whatever we need.

Which way is best I don't know but I for one have tremendous admiration for those GM's that have to endure this bidding process every week and totally agree something needs to be done to make things fairer to all.
    When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"
I sleep until midday cos I'm a problem solver!

They are NOT blind!!!!! Anyone in my guild can see my bid, anyone. Recruits and all, no matter the permissions. This I know and tested. It leaves it open for spying.

We are a large PvE guild and are making a push on a solid location. Of course I am speculating, but there is a chance that someone is sharing our bid to another guild as a sort of "inside trade tip".

To be sure, there is something a Developer can do about this, correct? Make the "blind" actually fit that definition.

This is very old news, and have been informed since day one, good job spreading the rumors so everyone know about it.

    Yah, it sucks.

I can see the problems with a global AH as well. But the current system bites, too high maintenance, inconsistent especially with the blind bid system. And it's not a scalable system - meaning if the population grows 10x, and the number of kiosks remains fixed, how will that work with that many people wanting to sell?

There's gotta be a way to improve it, find middle ground, make it easier for participation (hopefully for everyone) and make it scalable. There's been LOTS of suggestions over the last several months.

They implemented this system way back when, which is a substantial change IMHO and just left it like a cheep hooker on a street corner. No feedback, revisit, or tweaking stages.

Has anyone heard anything official about this being on the radar?

Fair enough. So spread "rumors" or wait are the only two options. How long would you suggest I wait in silence? Another 6 months? Year? I mean....come on.

I would suggest Stay quiet and inform ZoS about it with private messages, there is also a fix to this issue that may help you, I can give you a private message about it. But for now if you dont wanna lose your trader you shouldnt tell everyone about it.

Many of the Trade Guild GMs will be meeting with ZOS shortly. Hopefully we can get them to confirm that bids will be truly blind come 1.6

We have lots of other great suggestions that have come from within our Guilds that I'm excited to present.

That is great! I wish more than just trading guilds were involved, but I will take what 'we' can get :)

If I may, some immediate concerns other than bids:
    • Member history. When did 'x' member become a member? This is critical in guild management. Trade guilds may only care about the inactivity knowledge, but us pve/pvp guilds need much more than that.
    • Guild bank tabs. Currently it is either free for all, or no access. Not very manageable on a 500man scale with such limited options. Withdrawl limits tied to ranks, maybe a gbank tab for select ranks within guild only....just to name a couple of general ideas.
    • A real guild announcement. One that people see when they log in, not have to navigate to it. This can be toggled on/off from a member perspective for certain guilds (being 5 annoucements may be excessive upon logging in).

Just some things that would make an immediate effect towards guild management. Thx!

I think this goes back to the issue brought up in another thread: better guild tools are badly needed.

The fact that the bid of a blind bid auction, is shown in guild history tab is literally the most terrible decision ever made.

Though it was a bad decision, I would say that the Holocaust and The Crusades were a bit worse as far as decisions go. ;)
