With all the adventuring that's done I know I'm not the only one that gets caught up from time to time in the scenery of Tamriel. I stop running around, hands freeze on my keyboard and mouse, my mouth slightly agape, and my lips purse momentarily in a silent "Woah".

I was riding thru Alik'r with the sun beating down on me and was just amazed watching my shadow fly across the desert sand as I went. It wasn't that it was so pretty or whatever, it was simply the realistic look of it all. That moment struck me more than any scenery

I don't have a picture but the first time I saw the core of the Earth Forge I stopped following the npc and had a whoa moment. So many beautiful locales that I have had to stop a few times to take in the views.

No pic here, either, but the first time I saw one of the giant mushrooms in Deshaan I was entranced.

And in Glenumbra, there's a big tree in a grove, I can't remember the name of it right now, but I found it gorgeous.

Both of those things still stick with me.:)

For me it was the detailed ambient sound in the game. Although I really enjoy the music, sometimes I turn the music off and crank up the ambient sound. Hearing the ghostly whispers while wandering deep into an Ayleid ruin, or the surprisingly loud crack of thunder while venturing in the woods of Glenumbra, it's just amazing. It is remarkable to hear that level of detail in the "background noise", and is often an overlooked feature hidden behind all of the other obvious "wow" factors of the game. If you haven't experienced ESO like this, I suggest you try it some time.

They did a great job with the lighting, yes. But the last two times a game's graphics made me go "Whoaaa" were when I saw Star Citizen's Ship models and, more recently, when I saw a landscape screenshot from Kingdom Come's alpha.

I.. I can't. I can't contribute to this. Why? Because of my compassion. See.. there has not been a single game which made me and my friends stop as often as this one when it comes to design. My folder with what I consider breathtaking screenshots is 300+ images large.. and it only stopped growing because I am almost done with every bit of content outside of Trials.

Ah well.. aaaalright.. maybe if I just pick a random good one.. *gnaws at own fingers for not "accidentally" uploading all 300 of them*

Nothing in this game. Graphics are just decent and gameplay is too casual to cause any woah moments.

Graphics: I play ESO with Nvidia 3D Vision 2 and it's a decent experience. I have already experienced far greater looking things like modded Skyrim and Crysis in 3D. ESO in 3D and enhanced with SweetFX and ESO Launcher mod just doesn't match.

Gameplay: ESO's gameplay is just casual and nothing surprising ever happens. I just started playing Grimrock 2 in 3D and this game surprises me constantly.

Well the first time my formal/repressed Altmer gal tried on an argonian robe. Lots of interesting skin visible in that thing. Shocked her.

At the time I happened to be gaming with my spouse whose PC was her brother - and he shouted from across the room that if she was going to dress like that it better not be outside of the bedroom. If I could have had a /blush I would have used it.

In-game, the first time I was swimming and realized I could watch my shadow on the ocean floor in shallow waters - way lovely.

Ah so many.. so very many of them still in that folder *sigh* - it's really hard to decide which ones to share next and all that

While it is absolutely obvious that ESO can not possibly surpass for example a heavily modded Skyrim (it would be downright stupid if it tried) one thing ESO really does better than most if not almost any game is the design. It*s one thing to code an engine, it's another thing to fill places with wonder and amazement. And that's where ESO truly excels, heck I've shot more than 300 screenshots over the course of 8 months and everytime I say to myself: only do one next you come upon something truly marvellous.

I do have to add however that the screenshots I take are all with SweetFX enabled (and also showing on the screenshots thanks to the Greenshot software I use to cap)

The shadows MUST be set to the highest level in ESO. Water reflections can be low. Particle effects can be low but shadows... Gotta Be high!

Sometimes Prime time scroll runs are pretty 'woah' a hundred horses all galloping across Cyrodil, doesn't happen much any more though

Those gatherings where people strip down to their skivvies and use the /say option to have weird sexual conversations. See them all the time in Riften. It's creepy.

However it was accidental how big they ended up and in my defence I do dress her very demurely....

I did at one point put some armour on and think WOW where did they come from!!
