People outside of ESO are talking about this....I guess we will see.
There were people talking about all kinds of doom about ESO even pre-launch. They said ESO would go F2P in 1 month, then 3 months, after that 6 months etc.
We are now at 9+ months.
Those kind of people will always hate on ESO. So just let them talk. I can't wait consoles to launch with a P2P model to shut everyone up.
I honestly think that the gaming sites might be on to something with the F2P thing and it caught ZOS off guard. The silence has been them trying to figure out the damage control on that F2P being leaked early. I cant think of any other reason they wont just answer our questions.
The last time they said patch notes were at 48 pages and counting.

This could be right. Here's my post on (yet) another thread on this topic:I blame us for their silence.
Information sharing is a tricky business. When early announcements are made, they set peoples expectations. When the announced project/change/whatever runs into unexpected issues that force a change from what was announced, it becomes problematic. Some people will accept the new announcement and move on. Other people will get upset because they want what was originally announced. As a result, most companies tend to hold announcements until all changes have been locked in.
ZOS has already been burned by this model, on the XP gain for CP transition. They announced one thing, then found it wouldn't work that way. Result was an uproar. Any wonder they are being more careful now?

So this is what I'm saying....if I do something illegal...and my neighbor sees it I need not worry. If I do something illegal and the news reports on it then I will and should answer for it. I'm not saying what they are / not doing is illegal....I'm simply pointing out it's too big to sweep under the rug now.
Just having subscribed people worrying that it might become F2P or B2P (as evidenced by all these threads, and for good reason) is actually bad for the game (from both reputation & financial point of view).
I, for one won't be renewing my subscription if no answer is provided on why 6-month subscription was removed, and whether it might become an option again.
I won't waste a second more in a game that might become F2P or B2P.

It was already answered by a German CM and translated in the previous main thread on this topic. I currently have a six month subscription and pay ~$77 on renewal.

LOL @Joejudas Really? This is your argument? To equate this circumstance with something that is illegal then state it's not illegal but rather is as big as if it was illegal. WHAT?
No it's not. It's not that big. Some F2P phanboys have been pining away for ESO to go F2P. Somebody started a rumor and it picked up steam because some game rags (yes rags) reported on the rumor while they state if the rumor where true it would be their preference.... LOLS.
This is not news and ZOS has no obligation to respond to this crud. I certainly don't expect them to.
Good grief. What people spend their time worrying about. Funny.

Personally, I don't buy that explanation (nor seem to do any of the big gaming sites).
Why remove an option from the subscribers? It makes zero sense.
The optimist in me wants to hope that it is to take down the servers for a month or so, to install new ones in order to fix Cyrodiil.
But if this was the case, why not tell us, the subscribers?
I remember reading a post from a Zenimax employee, stating they'd be open & honest about their future plans & policies.
They've been all but open & honest when it comes to this issue.
Yep, they probably made $1,000 by removing that sub option. Heck, I'd do almost anything for that much money.Whether you believe it or not isn't the issue. You asked for an answer which they have previously provided. Going to more frequent subs makes perfect economic sense as they make more money off of more frequent subs due to less of a discount

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! You are the 1,000th poster to make this argument. We have a special prize just for you!!! I read the thread about this where ZOS responded. They said that the 6 month subscription was the least popular of the choices, hardly anyway was using it so they did away with it. It seems to me that they have been honest and open about it.
Now if you choose to not believe them, that is fine. That is your right. But don't blame THEM when it was YOU that chose not to believe them.
Even if they were not 100% truthful, the answer could just as easily be something else, like they think they'll make more money by removing the 6 month sub as the 1 and 3 month are usually a higher monthly rate. Just one random example off the top of my head.
Well....i understand what your saying...but when IGN, Kotaku, PCgamer etc etc pick up on it....i think it needs a clear answer at that point. You might disagree...but that just my take.
When IGN, Kotaku, PCgamer etc. "pick up on" something that is not announced by a company, and credit drama on the forums in the form of rumours as a "source," the only thing that I feel needs a clear answer at that point is why I continue to bother with them for quality gaming news.
The PCgamer article basically amount to saying:
Recently ZOS changed their subscriptions around by removing their least popular subscription option. When questioned about this action, a ZOS representative stated that the option was removed because it was largely unused by players.
Rather than request the reinstatement of this subscription option, the ESO forum has been in an uproar proclaiming the company is lying and clearly plans to go F2P.
We hope that ESO goes F2P as well, and here is an example of what sort of system we think we might like to see them use.
All it really takes is one site to write an article in order to have all the others spin their own in order to look like they are not less informative than their competitors.
Most people just honestly believe that more options are always better...not less options. Having the 6 month subscription option cost them nothing extra and people still used it.....but if the argument is being made that no one was taking the 6 month option....then to me....that speaks volumes to people's timid nature towards this game right now
