There were people talking about all kinds of doom about ESO even pre-launch. They said ESO would go F2P in 1 month, then 3 months, after that 6 months etc.
We are now at 9+ months.
Those kind of people will always hate on ESO. So just let them talk. I can't wait consoles to launch with a P2P model to shut everyone up.
My guess was in a years time.

1. Holidays. Most of the decision makers have been otherwise distracted.
2. ZOS seems to have no interest in responding to rumors. I can see their point in that once they start they will be constantly having to respond to whatever crazy idea catches the imagination of the forums. This does tend to allow imaginations to run wild.
3. If something does come up that needs clarification, the best bet to see something posted is a normal business week from Monday PM (Eastern Time Zone) through Friday. Demanding that they respond from late Friday through noon the following Monday is pointless.
The last official statement they made on this subject was that they were committed to the subscription model. I do not expect any statement from them on this subject unless that changes. You are free to speculate that no news is bad news, but in this case, it is any news will be bad news.The last time they said patch notes were at 48 pages and counting.
61 pages and 22,000 words as of this morning.

Official responses on the forums should be well thought out and minimal as a matter of good business practice. If the posted too frequently and wrote something in even a slightly ambiguous manner, then they might send the forum-posting brigade even farther over the edge. Silence from gaming companies is not uncommon from what I have seen playing other MMOs.1 -

✭✭Damned if they do, damned if they don't. At this point ZOS has put themselves into a difficult position. ANY response is bound to be greeted with skepticism, but remaining silent in light of multiple reports outside of the forum implies they are hiding something, whether that is true or not.

Speculation is an assumption. They are periodically responding per the developer tracker. I wouldn't believe anything unless someone had legitimate insider information. However, speculation can still be fun. It just brings out the curmudgeons in droves.0

ZoS makes interesting decisions. ZoS has always been funny about their communication. A company that makes interesting decisions and is funny about their methods and communication could very well think that it's better to not have a visibly "dead" subscription option (i.e. the six month sub that is least used), versus having a visible option for a long-term sub that is not used. In other words, ZoS may just think it looks better for them to say that they have X-amount of monthly subs, while skipping the bad press a dead six-month subscription option may represent (e.g. "Hardly anyone subs for six months, the game must not be that great.").2 -

When they give information it's not good/soon/happy enough and people flip their lids with conjecture and speculation and wild accusations.
When they don't give information at least its a controllable burn of anger across the board.
The same anger is much easier to quell than fractured segments of people pissed off about different things.
It's what I would do to be honest in their situation. Completely disregard any negativity here on the forum and speculation out there, continue my propaganda campaign through ESO live and ride out the 2014 MMO win as long as I could.
Pretty simple business decision in my personal opinion.Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.10 -

When early announcements are made, they set peoples expectations. When the announced project/change/whatever runs into unexpected issues that force a change from what was announced, it becomes problematic. Some people will accept the new announcement and move on. Other people will get upset because they want what was originally announced. As a result, most companies tend to hold announcements until all changes have been locked in.
ZOS has already been burned by this model, on the XP gain for CP transition. They announced one thing, then found it wouldn't work that way. Result was an uproar. 1) People make a claim somewhere.
2) Claim is not refuted within a certain time frame.
3) The silence is taken as evidence that the claim is true.
This is the same loop that people fall into. Stop taking silence to mean something. Just because YOU think it needs a response does not mean ZOS (or any gaming company) thinks it needs a response. Also, they probably have 100 better things to do - you know, fixing and adding things that people have asked for over the past several weeks/months. Now you want them to stop that and delay bug fixes and delay patches and delay maintenance just so you can get a response to some stupid rant.
Please stop demanding immediate attention like a spoiled 4 year old. I want the devs focusing on game issues, not placating impatient people.6 -

Maybe it's because if they respond, it would validate such junk journalism and encourage people to continue to make things up off the top of their heads. I'd honestly respect ZOS more if they didn't give in to this and don't let bigmouths push them around.

I agree, that is indeed funny. Cyrodiil and the players who spend the majority of their time there are the bast***, red-headed step-children of ESO who are relegated to sit at a different table than everyone else. The only difference is that in real life there would be food on that separate table whereas in ESO that table is ignored completely and never given anything to consume.0 -

Whether you believe it or not isn't the issue. You asked for an answer which they have previously provided. Going to more frequent subs makes perfect economic sense as they make more money off of more frequent subs due to less of a discount2 -

I read the thread about this where ZOS responded. They said that the 6 month subscription was the least popular of the choices, hardly anyway was using it so they did away with it. It seems to me that they have been honest and open about it.
Now if you choose to not believe them, that is fine. That is your right. But don't blame THEM when it was YOU that chose not to believe them.
Even if they were not 100% truthful, the answer could just as easily be something else, like they think they'll make more money by removing the 6 month sub as the 1 and 3 month are usually a higher monthly rate. Just one random example off the top of my head.4 -

When IGN, Kotaku, PCgamer etc. "pick up on" something that is not announced by a company, and credit drama on the forums in the form of rumours as a "source," the only thing that I feel needs a clear answer at that point is why I continue to bother with them for quality gaming news.
The PCgamer article basically amount to saying:
Recently ZOS changed their subscriptions around by removing their least popular subscription option. When questioned about this action, a ZOS representative stated that the option was removed because it was largely unused by players.
Rather than request the reinstatement of this subscription option, the ESO forum has been in an uproar proclaiming the company is lying and clearly plans to go F2P.
We hope that ESO goes F2P as well, and here is an example of what sort of system we think we might like to see them use.
All it really takes is one site to write an article in order to have all the others spin their own in order to look like they are not less informative than their competitors.
The fact that PCgamer wants an mmo to go F2P says all you need to know right there...
Force weapon swap to have priority over EVERYTHING. Close enough.
Make stamina builds even with magicka builds.
Disable abilities while holding block.
Give us a REASON to do dungeons more than once.
Remove PVP AoE CAP. It is ruining Cyrodiil.
Fix/Remove Forward Camps. They are ruining Cyrodiil.
Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.

Well technically it cost them a % of profit by lowering the cost on long term subs. So it actually DID cost them something to have it.
Whether the stated reason is the actual reason is moot because it's the only reason you are getting
