After some initial testing this week I managed to get ESO functioning perfectly behind a Microsoft Forefront TMG Firewall without having access to the firewall itself. This guide should work pretty much for any HTTP Proxy setup (although I have been testing it briefly with Trend Micro's IWSVA Appliance and wasn't able to replicate the same results just yet.. will come back with that once I work out how to bypass it).

Obviously for this to work you need a valid network / AD account for your corporate/enterprise/education network. For obvious reasons, I have omitted some details from my screenshots of my own network. You should be able to figure it out yourself.

This process also involves the prior installation of a functional little tool called 'Proxifier' which can be obtained from their official website here. This program allows you to rout all ESO ports out through the same Proxy port at your gateway/firewall. Remember to support the developers and BUY the software if this works for you. If you have network policies in place that stop you from installing software, there is a portable version available also.

After you have installed ESO and Proxifier to the local machine and it is fully patched up to date - Take the following steps

1. Fire up the Bethesda.Net_Launcher (As Administrator). Do Not fire up Proxifier at this point. Make sure it is not running in the system tray. Use your normal network settings to do this.



2. When the Launcher loads and all patches are applied, either open Internet Settings from your Control Panel, or fire up IE and choose Settings -> Internet Settings.



3. In Internet Settings go to the Connections Tab and LAN Settings.



4. In LAN Settings you should have a Proxy Address in the boxes as set by your AD Group Policy, If your Network Admin is a *** they would have disallowed your ability to turn this on and off and then you're up *** creek. If you can though, untick the box marked 'Use a Proxy Server'. Write down your Proxy Server Address and Port however and then click OK to everything and Exit IE.



5. Now Fire up Proxifier from your Desktop



6. In Proxifier, Go to the Profile, and Proxy Servers menu option



7. In the Proxy Setup click on Add



8. Fill out the details of your Network Proxy in this box, copying from your IE settings. Most proxies these days are HTTPS based, I haven't tested this with SOCKS types but it may work. Feel free to try. Use Authentication and set your username as DOMAIN\Username. If you don't know your domain, fire up a command prompt (cmd.exe) and type 'domain' at the prompt and hit enter. It should show up in the left column when AD Domains and Trusts loads. Username and password are your standard network credentials what you log into the workstation with (duh!). Click OK to save settings.



9. Click on Check, and let the Proxy Checker check your connection status. You want to see a nice green message saying 'Proxy is ready to work with Proxifier' at the top of this box. Click OK once the test is complete.



Now press 'Play' on the ESO Launcher. You will see a series of connection attempts in the Proxifier log console if this works. The Launcher will then start the game and get to the login screen.



If you reach this point you should not have any trouble loading your character and getting out into Tamriel. Go get em!



The connection has been reliable so far for the hour I've been testing it or so. It does periodically lag and stutter but I'm fairly sure this is because of the real time packet inspection being performed by the TMG Gateway. If your network doesn't support this it should be distinctly faster.
